Ok....watched this again last night, and noticed something VERY significant. You know how David is flirting with Maddie 'heavily' throughout this episode - well, the scene where they are in the dining car alone. They're sitting at seperate tables and she is 'not talking to him'. Does anyone have the script for this episode??? It's my 'wanton' belief (ha) that something BIG is missing from this scene. He says "I know you're not speaking to me....gotta admit. This train, this night, kinda romantic. Haven't you ever had a fantasy like this? About a night like this? On a train like this?" "Yep, only none of these people were in it. Including you." "I love it when you talk mean to me." (he doesn't say this as a quip. He's definately going 'somewhere' with this conversation. AND they're still sitting at serperate tables)"So when is this stupid murder supposed to happen anyway?" CUT TO: Agnes finds the body and screams CUT BACK TO: David sitting right next to Maddie with his chair turned around like he's been saying something very intimate to her. They hear her scream, and take off running. WHAT WAS HE SAYING TO HER? I never noticed this before. Usually I catch these things because I'm trained to. So given that, and given what transpired verbally beforehand - I reaaalllly want to know what he said to her. And why did they cut it out. For time constraints, or was it the censors? Maybe we'll never know. Only if someone has the script.

Wow I never noticed that before. Need to watch it again. I don't have a script of this one, sometimes you can find them on ebay.

I know I read somewhere on this site that someone has collected various scripts. And has posted dialogue that didn't make it into the final version of episodes. I'm hoping someone has this script. I'm very curious about this. I know in The X Files series, for instance, there were certain scenes and or dialogue/actions that were cut or changed because 'they' decided it was too soon to let the relationship 'evolve'.

I remember that scene, and I noticed how in one shot he's farther away, and then in the next shot he's right up there at her table.
My take on it (and I could be wrong) is that this was the sly way of the director/writer of showing how what Maddie says and what she means are two different things. Oh, suuurrre she doesn't want him anywhere near her. But lickety-split, there he is, at her table, all casual-like with his chair backwards. And has she left the table? No. She's right there, "tolerating" him.

Yes....that could be true. But....if you really look at exactly when they cut back to that scene- right after Agnes finds the body....David is leaning in very close to her with his mouth open - like he 'just' said something to her - when the scream happens. I 'know' they cut dialogue out. Just wish I knew what it was. Like I said especially after the way David delivers the line, " I just love it when you talk 'mean' to me." It's very quiet and suggestive. Not a quip. Then for him to be leaning in - right in her ear in the next cut. He purposely moved his chair over there like that, and got really close to say something. I just know it. Maybe...if there's anyone from the show that reads these posts......maybe they can clarify this. Inquirying minds want to know. ;D ~blue moon girl

It wouldn't surprise me if something else was there and it was cut. Usually a lot of little (and big) things are cut, moved around, tweaked, and so forth. I noticed his sudden "shift" in that scene and I kind of liked it—I thought it was a fun way of showing how fast he could smooth-talk his way to her table, talking with her in a cozy way, even though she claimed to be adamant that she didn't want to talk to him.

I just watched it too. That is an odd scene...He starts off smiling, she seems to be pissed at him, then there's the cut scene and by the time the camera comes back, he's at her table, and damned if it doesn't look like their drinks are lower. And sloshing. I wish they had released script books. I seem to remember they did that for some of the years out of Monty Python. Well, you can't win 'em all. If only you could win some.

wow, just watched this scene again and I see what you mean blue moon girl! When it cuts back to D&M at the table, they definitely look like they are in the middle of a deep and meaningful - guess it's one of those where we use our imaginations to think of what had been said. Would like to know the "true" script tho! Let us know if you find anything!

I heard back from the script co. Unfortunately, they do not have Next Stop Murder. But they do have several others. I might splurge and buy a few. I don't normally purchase scripts because they're usually first draft, and have nothing to do with the end result. But....since this is ML - it might be fun to see what was originally written. Some of the episode titles they listed for me are the original working titles, too. I'll let you all know what I get, and what they're like. I think I'm still going to check around for NSM. I'm still really curious about that scene. ~blue moon girl who feels like wasting time
