5. Elaine Johnson comments that women make love with their hearts. David glances at Maddie. What is he thinking?Comparing a woman who is obviously of, well, questionable moral fiber saying that although she has put quite a number notches in her lipstick case, she still does it with her ticker....to the ice queen with a substantially lower number of home runs who (David thinks) was fully ready to raise the score with an anonymous stranger. Strange bedfellows indeed. Omg!! I have never thought of this like that before!! It just blows my theory out of the water...

7. Discuss the significance of the trunk scene (sigh). Is it a turning point in their relationship? Does it tell David what he wants to know? Well...we were all hoping so, including David, but I don't think it ended up being a turning point. However, I do think it tells David what he needs to know. That he is still in the running with Maddie...which is why he kisses her!! sigh... Another however, and I'm jumping the gun, but because of her showing up at his apt. and then sharing a tender moment with a kiss and the "I hate you's" he is really confused in "I Am Curious..." when he learns Maddie wasn't completely forthcoming with the reason she was at his apt. He thought he sealed the deal with the kiss on the trunk...would have sealed it for me!!

9. In this episode, we get to see the situation from Maddie's point of view. How do you feel after experiencing Maddie's inner struggle?
I really REALLY like this episode, specifically because we get to see more of her side of the story. I emphasize with her (in a testosterone laden, manly, male way of course) agonizing position. Unlike some of the uneven season four writing, this show seems entirely in character for Maddie. She realizes that she must do SOMETHING....that her soul is not fulfilled by the status quo....but what that something is will not reveal itself to her. Not easy for her to take after a lifetime of "turn this way Maddie, raise your chin, smile, now put your hand on your hip...good, now give me a pout..."

8. In the words of an oldie but goodie, "if you want to know if he loves you so, it's in his kiss". What does Maddie learn from David's kiss?
Well....I think she learns that she loves David. Ironically though, she doesn't say those 3 little words that she so desperately wants to hear form David.
Lin...love the oldie reference!!

I always thought this scene was masterful. It appeared more stage like, more Broadway, than tinseltown. Just the two protagonists, minimal props and limited lighting. You were completely focused on those two people, and their interaction.
When I originally saw this scene, I did indeed see it as a watershed moment. Maddie comes to David..her first visit to that wonderful place. He goes out of his way to be a great host by offering food and a comfy place to sit and talk. She drops all of her veneer and lays it out in the open, and the "I Hate You" banter fits so perfect for these two kindred souls.
Yes, this was A turning point, but not the last one as we all know. If only the writers would have kept on THIS fork in the road instead of taking some crazy National Lampoon Vacation route I think we would have all been better off.

9. In this episode, we get to see the situation from Maddie's point of view. How do you feel after experiencing Maddie's inner struggle? I want to personally drive her to her therapist...Maddie, Maddie, Maddie!!! ..and then lock her in the Dr.'s office during "To Heiress..." and "A Trip..."

But I also think she realizes that David really loves her - not in a "flavor of the month" way, but REALLY. His kiss is tender, quiet, honest. Glad you liked the tune - it seemed to say it all.

10. Maddie rushes over to David's apartment in the middle of the night. Seems pretty spontaneous, unless she weighed the pros and cons before rushing over. Is this a case of role reversal?
I don't think so. It's much like her marching into his office and demanding answers. But, she probably weighed the pros and cons!! ;D

Yup, this smooch is significantly different from those we saw in Dream Sequence, Big Man, etc....those were just raw, sensual kisses where they were devouring each other. This was tender...this was for REAL.

Don't you love Bert with a Yuban buzz? I just love Herbert Quentin Viola!! ...like a brother, I mean!!
Has anyone ever wondered why Alan and Elaine follow David and Maddie and subject themselves to a barrage of dairy? Why don't they go the other way when David and Maddie get in front of them?
No kiddin'!! ;D

1. In the opening scene, Sam asks Maddie if she is okay. Why?I'm thinking that he may have had some inkling that there were other things on Maddie's mind during the previous night's boot knocking. He was trying to determine if it was something he had to address, or something that would blow over with time. I know you ladies think that us of the masculine gender can't tell when a woman isn't really "into it". That is far from the truth. In reality, we can surely tell....we just don't care. Gray I am literally LMAO @ "boot knocking", I think I have lost 3lbs! I was just not prepared for the honesty of this entire answer. I do agree with everything you have stated here, I couldn't have addressed it any better.

Gray, I know this avatar is definitely one of my favorites... great work~ Thank you dear. I made several for this episode, but this one seems to capture my twisted sense of humor, and self worth, all in one.
