I have a question: In the opening scene, when David tells Agnes that he's finally "got her"...does he really believe it?

Yeah Since, great Q's. Sorry, had to jump a minute. Had to go to You Tube and watch the Alvin and the Chipmunks "Dreamlighting" episode...in case you haven't seen it. Ok, I'm going to watch it right now~

OMG--I had never seen this--were the 80s AWESOME or what?!? Yeah, I actually found it by accident when I was trying to find some clips of the Claymation promos that Bravo used for Moonlighting. Loop Animation made some using regular dialogue, but I have never seen them posted on YouTube or anywhere else for that matter. Sorry to go off topic, but I thought folks would want to see that.

4) In observing the phone conversation between Maddie & David, explain what each are feeling from your point of view.
But then, as since pointed out, he hears the real pain (and the tears) in her voice. She's not playing him...and though it kills him to do it, he reacts like the true gentleman he is, and agrees to give her some time. Wow. As for Maddie...she may have run away, but she's not running from her feelings right at this moment, IMO. Her love for him comes through in her voice--when she asks for time, she's really pleading with him ("Say it's OK, David"). You can see in her face that she's missing him, that part of her is thinking "Why the hell did I do this?"... and that feeling almost takes over, which is why she hangs up--she knows she can't hold it together a moment longer. It is like Maddie is seconds from hopping a plane back home or reneging on what she has asked of him, which is not to come to Chicago. His love for her as hers for him begins to render them weak; David gives in first but if he would have held out a bit longer, she would have crumbled. I'd never seen Maddie respond to David in that manner before when he was angry, she always fought back, yet this time she replied like a mere child, and ASKED that he not yell. It is one of the most heart felt moments I've witness between the two, the most honest I've seen them be about their love for one another IMHO. P.S. My pleasure for the q's jp

Re: the Dreamlighting thing...
I wonder if diane and Cindy know that's on Youtube--maybe they'd want to add a link to it for the "Fun & Games" section of davidandmaddie.com.

I have a question: In the opening scene, when David tells Agnes that he's finally "got her"...does he really believe it? I gotta say...and I'm probably in the minority here...I think there's a part of David that actually believes the line of BS he's giving Agnes. (The rest of him WANTS to believe it really, really badly.) Hope springs almost eternal in David Addison--look at the expression on his face when Maddie comes back in "Tracks of My Tears"--and I think, in spite of their date not ending up where he would've liked, he still has the memory of holding her in his arms, and hearing her say, "You're not gonna dance here with anybody else, are you?" Until he sees all those empty hangers in the closet...

Sorry guys, I just got home and have not had time for rewatching.....I did spend some time with the script today so hopefully I can rewatch, answer, and post script deviations tomorrow.
RE: things on You Tube. There are some legalities as far as linking to copyrighted materials, and I think I am going to defer to Cindy on this. I know we have been very careful not to encourage use of copyrighted items that are not paying royalties to the initial creative teams (EG....we were ALWAYS discouraging purchase of bootleg ML tapes before the official release.)
That said, I know we both have seen and "perhaps" have even stumbled over some of the parody materials from the 80s......The Chipmunks....Riptide......The Reagen White House Christmas....but I am pretty sure we have no right to publish them or links to them.
I'll get back to you with a more definitive answer.

As for Maddie...she may have run away, but she's not running from her feelings right at this moment jpen I am renegging (sp?) on what I said earlier about MAddie Avoiding the issues... just a leetle!! You are right, jpen, she feels the pressures of the issues she's having while trying her best to make David understand and approve. She wants David 's approval just like her Dad's, imo.....hmmm....wonder if her therapist ever touched on this with her?? However, our MAddie is going to do what MAddie's gonna do...approval from Dad or David...or not.

David's answers are usually calculated and precise, his confidence seems to be lacking here. But that's my smelly opinion~
