Hey All! Just finished up dinner here and soon off to put my boys to bed. 1: SO when David follows Maddie down the hall and asks her to go out , do you think he was just asking as a friend/coworker or could he have been asking or hoping for a more kind of romantic date with her ? Thats it from me right now

I think he really wanted a date, but made it out to be just two single friends needing something to do on a Friday night! He can't let her know that yet.
What strikes me first with this ep is David's cynicism towards relationships...finding a mate...men having the best intentions, etc.. He alludes to this right off the bat while watching "Bride of Frankenstein" in his office. "Yea...they all want doctors"..."His heart's in the right place"... are just a couple of things he says that made me think he was really thinking of someone else while he sat bored in his office on a Friday evening.
Love love the elevator scene when he asks Maddie out. She gets that same look on her face like in "Atlas...". And David looks as if he suddenly gets really nervous, like he didn't expect her to agree to a night out so easily.

Questions:
What is revealed as to MAddie's beliefs about relationships and marriage?
Does the Tupperman case serve to help David understand Maddie a little better? If so, in what way?
Does working this case with David reveal anything new about him to Maddie?

Good point bees...I hadn't thought of those lines in that light before. Can't blame David for his cynicism, considering his experiences with Gillian and Tess...but I love the fact that he's still a romantic at heart--especially when it comes to a certain Blondie Blonde. ;D Oh my goodness, I had to watch that moment several times--I so wish we saw that little Maddie smile more often--she lets down her guard, for just a second, and there's a sweetness there that goes straight to the heart. It's funny--I sort of expected a similar softening in the airplane scene, when David kisses her hand...particularly because she's waxing poetic about weddings at the time. (Aside: it cracks me up that she qualifies it: "A woman only gets married for the first time once"--how modern! ) And she accuses David of being "the least romantic person on the planet": oh, Maddie-girl, how little you know!! ;D

I suppose having your heart trampled a few times would make a guy think twice.

I think David wanted to keep his invite as casual as possible so there would be no pressure. Still, somehow both realized that the invite was a date, thus the anxious looks on their faces. True to form, he and Maddie couldn't find a way past their differences to enjoy a Friday evening together, not even a bite to eat! So, David devolves into a predictably lewd suggestion that they take a bath in motor oil over at her crib. This is not to say that I don't love the scene, especially in the elevator how he put the invite out there ever so hesitantly, then got nervous afterward.

Maddie's broad, authentic smile in the elevator reminds me of the scene at the door in Symphony in Knocked Flat. And I loved the way Dave instinctively showed his aversion to seafood. Wonderful acting. It just seemed like they truly enjoyed each others company at this point.

What is revealed as to MAddie's beliefs about relationships and marriage? This may explain why Maddie at 35ish hasn't yet taken the plunge. She obviously wants someone not just to be a match for the moment, but to be one for the long haul, to grow old with. Rather delightfully old fashioned in that way I might add. Maddie truly sees marriage as a commitment, not a lease to be traded in every 3 years or 45,000 boinks whichever comes first. Even so, she is congnizant that she may no longer be a member of the overwhelming majority in that belief anymore. Maddie obviously has her own "list" and no mere male can check off all the boxes....of course she hasn't met ME yet....

Mmmm not sure anything earthshattering was revealed, but if there were an epilogue to the story David would have to give Maddie props for being the better "matchmaker" and Maddie would have to admit that Dave did some pretty good detective work by putting the case together...even IF Molly's entrance at the hospital was a surprise.

Spending the week out of town with a machine that did not have any photo manipulation capabilities put me on the back burner, unfortunately. I shall make up for that...promise! (Plus, I rather ENJOY squeezing Maddie's behind...)
