Anyone a devotee of BOTH shows/fellas? It's funny, RS is MUCH more my type (well, aside from the con-artist angle, of course ), and I think he's totally swoony, and have always been totally in love with him, but I love, love, LOVE David, too. Anyone else, or do I have a split personality?

Weeeellll, suzyparker . . . David Addison is my #1, only because he walked into my life first, not because of green vs blue eyes, East Coast vs Irish accents, or a general type. I began watching RS in 1987, which was difficult because I believe it was in the same time slot on the same night as ML. Then, in the early '90s they showed reruns of RS on a local station here in SD. I still have countless videos of RS episodes. I remember Pierce Brosnan saying that he preferred Moonlighting's inventive approach to the detective genre--over his own show

Ah, see, I knew Remington first...I think RS began around '83? I don't remember exactly, because I was living in England at the time, and American shows ran a year or so behind.
I don't remember them being in the same time slot, though, because I'm fairly certain I watched them both...and I didn't tape either. Hmm. I like how "Remington" did the cameo on The Straight Poop...I suppose as a favor to Glen, since worked on both shows, but if he liked ML better...that explains a lot. But the one thing that bugs me his that he didn't really appear in Remington Mode (clean-shaven, dressed to the nines), but more like Pierce himself.
Also, the behind-the-scenes similarities of the two shows are almost eerie...RS was supposed to be Stephanie Zimbalist's show, but Pierce soon far eclipsed her in terms of star power and as a fan favorite...SZ and PB notoriously didn't get along...both shows died slow, painful deaths due mostly to external circumstances. Sad.
But I still can't decide which guy I like better! (Plus, in real life, I like Pierce better -- don't thow anything at me!!! -- but although Bruce seems like a very nice guy, I'm not super-keen on him as anyone but David.)

I believe it was 1982, but it didn't move to the same time slot until much later--I think that's how I discovered it to begin with. I remember someone connected to RS saying that the chemistry between Cybill and Bruce was much more palpable than that between Stephanie and Pierce. I, for one, prefer the rugged, unshaven Pierce/Steele vs. the hoity-toity tuxedo and bow tie Pierce/Steele. I love both versions of Bruce/David. For instance, the "flesh hidden under an inch of scum" never looked so good and is part of the reason for my username .

I was a big fan of RS too; in germany, RS aired a few years before ML did. There was the will-they-or-won't-they-topic too all the time, but in ML that was much sharper, the conflict was much stronger, the gap between the attraction and the OMG-I-hate-that-person-denial much wider. I liked RS very much, and Pierce is very handsome, probably handsomer than Bruce in the classic way. But David/Bruce just has that certain something, that spark in his eyes, that irresistible grin... I instantly and completely fell for him, no way. So there's no oubt who was and still is my favorite of the two, is there?
