Just wanted to cover the bases . . . Cybill is guest starring on Lifetime's "Drop Dead Diva" this Sunday.
Tonight I watched "Kramer vs. Kramer" starring Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep. Wonderful, heartbreaking film that still has resonance 30 years later. Anyway, George Coe aka Lou LaSalle plays Dustin Hoffman's boss, who ultimately fires him.
Tomorrow night will be . . . "The Last Picture Show." I think I tried to watch it at 14, when I had a more action-oriented mindset.

I'll never be tired to watch it again and again! Cybill is just fabulous in it! It's just this imperfect, perfect quiet little movie with incredibly huge impact and heart. I'm a big fan of the female cast-- Eileen Brennan, Cloris Leachman, and Ellen Burstyn are phenomenal. Any of them could have played any of the others' roles, but they are so perfect in the parts they had, each so different but equally powerful. Wonderful writing for real women here too. Ben Johnson? Fuhgeddaboudit-- he's flat out amazing. And the teen cast, including Cybill, are perfection. Timothy Bottoms and Jeff Bridges are a terrific team, and when you throw Cybill into the mix, it is something to behold. Anyway, I could go on and on about this movie but I'll just stop and say, "Watch". Oh, and also, if you love the movie, don't miss "Picture This", a doc about the making of the sequel Texasville, which gives you a lot of insight into the making of TLPS. Timothy Bottoms breaks my heart re: Cybill.

And he's only 2 months older than Cybill. Both were stellar. I found Cybill's smirks, pouts, grimaces, and numerous other facial expressions endearing and quite funny. How do I find the documentary?

So glad you enjoyed it as much as I do! Yes, Jeff Bridges and Cybill are wonderful and so funny together too. Two Cybill scenes that stand out for me are when she's in the car with Sonny (Timothy Bottoms) with "Blue Velvet" playing on the radio. Her beauty is positively surreal. Another is when she walks in and sucks down the remains of Sonny's milkshake--such a telling move for that character. Oh and of course, her reaction to Duane after the deed is done. LOL You can find the documentary on Netflix, or ebay or on Amazon-- VHS copies are like 99 cents and DVDs around $10-15. You can also get it on demand on Amazon for $2.99. Netflix also has it on demand. Oh and iTunes, too. Just make sure it's the one titled "Picture This: The Times of Peter Bogdanovich in Archer City, Texas". There's an Ashley Tisdale movie called "Picture This!" that is not what you want. Anyway, if you love the movie, it is a truly fascinating doc.

Oh and of course, her reaction to Duane after the deed is done. LOL "Oh, quit prissin'! I don't think you did it right anyway!" I love the first attempt, with Duane repeating over and over, "I - I don't know what happened" and finally, Jacy saying "Oh! You say that one more time, I'll bite you!"

Must try and make sure i remember to tape DDD! Thanks! So, did anyone catch Drop Dead Diva last night? It was an episode entitled "The Queen of Mean." Cybill played a fashion designer whose former assistant intends to publish a tell-all book about her. She hires Jane, the main character, to represent her in a quest to have the publication stopped. Or, so we think. Of course, Our Lady Cybill was great in it, but I had never seen the show and really enjoyed it all around! You can watch it on mylifetime.com if you didn't catch it.

I watched it and she did a nice job as always. But does anyone out there besides me CRAVE the fast talking, emotionally driven banter from both Bruce and Cybill when you watch them now? I know 'it's in their very bowels' but it seems no writer is giving either of them the material they are capable of. It makes me sad.

Well, there's only one Glenn, and he wrote for Cybill what she called "The Part of a Lifetime." He also gave Bruce the opportunity to grow as an actor by playing David. The lightning in the bottle has already struck. That's why I'm glad to have the real deal to fall back on, and this forum to keep it alive and kicking.

Yeah, I think it would be a big mistake to try to recreate anything, even with the same team. remember how dreadful the Mary Tyler Moore and Rhoda reunion was, and that was a terrific, ground-breaking show. Better just have our memories -- and thank god for the advent of old tv shows available on dvds!!
