Yes he is a very real character. He is charming and funny and fun. But he has faults too. However, he does seem to be loyal and devoted to Maddie and he is personable and likeable. People like to be around him.

David is a great character-- you love him and yet he makes you nuts sometimes (I guess that's how Maddie feels too!). He's got such vulnerability and yet such a defense mechanism that so often keeps him from just opening up to Maddie in a thoughtful manner. Instead, it's usually a heat of the moment situation or a bit of silly innuendo that conveys how he feels. Then again, Maddie's no wellspring of communication herself. This brings up another topic I'll start now...

Okay, can I talk about his voice for a second? Raise your hand if you've noticed that he uses it as a weapon in order to get what he wants.
Seriously... The most perfect example being his seduction of Maddie in her car in the episode 'To Heiress Human.' I don't know what he does with his voice or how he does it, but it works. Another example is from 'Symphony in Knocked Flat:'
"Say... tonight-ish. Eight-ish. I'll pick you up-pish..."
It works here as well, because you can see Maddie staring at his lips when he says this. It's absolutely hypnotizing and it gets him to wherever he wanted to be.
I don't recall BW doing it outside of 'Moonlighting,' though. Or at least not that often. Which is a shame, because he could read the phone book to me, as somebody else mentioned on here once. Hahaha!

Yes! Talk away, Sandra!! For me it’s the lopsided grin, it never loses effect. Completely charming and sexy. I hope I won’t be struck by lighting but I’m not the biggest fan of BW’s movies. No matter what role he plays, I always look for signs of David Addison to come out in his acting.

No worries, Anna. Nobody will smite you for not being a fan of BW movies. Hahaha! I actually agree with you; everything he did after the year 2000 is kind of the same. I curse Hollywood for its' typecasting, because that's what happened with Bruce. The only surprise in his acting career was 'The Sixth Sense,' that one I loved. I mean, give the man something other to do than hold a gun and look sour. Haha!
As for the lopsided grin, yeah, that one does all kinds of things to me as well. I wrote down somewhere on this board that David Addison/Bruce Willis was my first crush, but let's face it: all though Bruce gives him form, it's David's personality that I absolutely adore.
