OK...bear with me....it's 1:30 in the morning, sleep is not coming, and I am looking for a good old sappy romance to watch.....not a classic like Woman of the Year, The Lady Eve, or even Pretty Woman, The Way We Were, or When Harry Met Sally..
I need a movie with way too much sentiment.....maybe even one considered a bad movie, but one that just makes you swoon.
I settled on "Return to Me" followed by a "Hope Floats" chaser.
But I am curious... when you are in a blue mood, and don't go heading out to Metropolis, which are your movies of choice? I want to be more prepared for next time.

Diane, one of my all-time favorites in this league - no, it is THE all-time favorite in this league is "Moonstruck" with the wonderful wonderful Cher, and, sidenote: it's really just coincidence that it's moon-related because I loved tge movie before ML had aired in Germany.

Well...it's a very interesting question ... I think for me it's "A Walk to Remember "- the movie that I wach when I'm blue. p.s. ...but usually I do prefer going to Metropolis in hope that maybe just maybe David Addison will chase me

Those are sort of what I meant, Rose.....The Money Pit is, I think, a classically funny movie.
I thought of a couple more......."The Truth About Cats and Dogs", "28 Days" (ahhhhh...Viggo!), "It Could Happen to You" and "While You Were Sleeping".
Any more?

Like rose, I'm not sure this fits the category but "Soapdish" comes to mind. It's a hilarious satire of soap operas with a big-name cast: Sally Field, Kevin Kline, Robert Downey Jr., Whoopi Goldberg . . . so refreshing to watch Sally Field display her comedic chops. I'm chuckling to myself now just remembering scenes.
diane, I've seen 3 out of those 4 too many times to count

I'd add "Clueless," "Dave," "Emma" (the one with Gwynnie)...
As for "Overboard"...every time I come across it, I have to watch it til the end--might be something about all those boys being left motherless... ;D

Witness......love "Soapdish"...what a perfect choice. And Jen -- love, love, love "Dave".
You've hit on two of my favorite actors ever. Kevin Kline is so amazing and versatile -- I got to see him on Broadway and I think I held my breath the entire time! And Robert Downey Jr......an amazing talent who can do just about anything!
In fact......those two, along with the divine Mr. Willis and the supernatural Paul Newman, make up two thirds of my laminated list!
