Possibly from 'Blonde on Blonde': "Well, you're not my jilted lover, David, you're not my jilted anything." That whole speech where she talks about wanting to "just go to a hotel..." is a real jaw-dropper. David, thunderstruck, bleats "I don't want to hear you like this!" Incredible scene. The part where she's talking about "wanting to go to a hotel and just be bad, be wonderful" is from B on B. The "jilted part is from "I'm Curious....Maddie" (and I'm going to try to do this from memory. Ok, I admit it. My obsession has returned. Hahahahahaha!!!) "You run around here making speeches about how you're the jilted lover - that the world is coming to an end! Well, you're not the jilted anything, David. You won't even put yourself in the game. Am I supposed to think that because you chased me down the hall, that you care about me, that you don't want me to marry Sam?!....Right. Now it's my turn. Only this time, I'll chase you. How do you feel about me David? How do you feel about all this David? I have a right to know, don't I? Don't I!!....Yes. He asked me to marry him. No. I haven't said yes yet. But yes, I'm thinking about it. He's willing to make a commitment to me, David. How about you? If you want to leave, then leave. If you have something to say, then say it....Come on, David. Speak now or forever hold your peace....Right....Are we through?" "Sure looks like it." "Sure does...." ~blue moon girl Ok....I admit it. One of my passions is memorizing good dialogue.

Not sure of episode: "Whatever happened to the days when you met somebody, you started dating, you fell in love, you got married, you stayed married?" (David's reply: "This is the 80s, and you take your love where you can get it.") Maddie's line is wistful as much as it is bittersweet.

Oh my goodness! You remembered all that from the top of your head?! Impressive!! I think that second quote if from Yours, Very Deadly, where they are discussing the man who has been writing to that blonde woman (can't remember her name) Love Gem

[insert sheepish grin here] Hi Gem, Yes, I did that from memory....I grew up on movies/tv. Love the medium. Went to film school. I have somewhat of a photographic memory. Now I have my own video business. As a teen, I was totally obsessed with ML, on many levels. One being the lightning fast dialogue. And basically everything else about it. It was, and still is genius on every level. I used to audio tape the shows, and listen to them in between classes at school. It was like a test to see if I could memorize the dialogue. Call me crazy....I know. Of course, those 4 episodes were the Big Bang. How could you not watch them, over and over and over again. Twenty years later, my memory is a little fuzzy. But there is certain dialogue/scenes I never forget. ~blue moon girlwho's now ducking her head in embarrassment P.S. Thanks for the correction on the ep title, Gem.

One of my friends, who is perpetually trying to break into screenwriting (has gotten as far as pitching stories to studios) says that listening to audio tapes of episodes of shows is a good way of getting a "feel" for the characters—enough so that you can write for that show and make it "sound" like them. (If you've ever seen an episode for a show where everyone just didn't seem like "themselves," or—more commonly—read fan fiction where the writer didn't have the "voice" of the characters right, you'll know how difficult the capturing of this "voice" can be.) So anyway, that's my way of saying that listening to audio tapes of shows isn't all that far-fetched. There are good reasons for doing it. (Zeal and fandom being some other good reasons! )

You're definately right, Elvira. It is an excellent way of understanding the characters even better because you're not relying on your visual sense. When I was a kid, before we had a vcr, I would record stuff on my tape player. If you really 'listen', you pick up on more of the nuances of what's being said, people reactions etc. I love to listen. And that's part of why I do what I do, because I'm really good at listening to audio. I've trained myself to hear things that you don't normally pay attention to. All the nuances, and the little things are what make something good, bad or Great - as is the case with this show.

It's really cool that you can remember all that!
Anyway, here's another quote I like from Portrait of Maddie:
David: Did I say something wrong? Maddie:Do you ever say anything right?

I don't think this has been mentioned yet: From "Knowing Her." (David is about to go to Gillian's husband's funeral.)
"Better hurry, or you'll miss all the good parts."

"But I was looking forward to this funeral."

"Addison, have you no integrity in that fleas butt of a soul of yours?"

From the legendary: "...A man who thinks that 'culture' is dark beer!" A condemnacious thing to say, delivered with almost visible fury--I thought I was going to have a heart attack.

I used to have some parts on my mp3 player and listened to them at school. Not only from ML but also films, like Notting Hill or Pretty Woman. A friend and I used to play games where we had to guess which movie the quote came from. I'm starting at the pre-education of the Film Academy in a week and I'm hoping to get accepted at the Film Academy next year. I also have somewhat of a photographic memory, I can still remember things from waaaaay back. It's fun! So if you are crazy, I'm crazy too
