I joined this board a few months ago intending to comment on each and every episode as I made my way through the DVDs after having been away from Moonlighting for more than 10 years. Following through for season 1, I then got away from the comments but managed to keep watching and enjoying this series more than ever before. I will catch up on the comments at some point.
I also intended to end my viewing run with the conclusion of "I Am Curious... Maddie", knowing in my heart (if not my head) that Maddie and David would embrace their personality differences in the name of true love and live happily, if often comically, ever after (hence, my username). NO WAY was I going to relive the torture and torment of seeing them sabotage their relationship in various out-of-character and often downright cruel ways, as I had when suffering through seasons 4-5 when they originally aired. I hadn't even bought those seasons when I picked up the DVDs.
Well, this absolutely phenomenal episode has convinced me to trudge on to the bitter end, tuning out the crap and keeping my eyes open specifically for the tiny, little moments of seasons 4-5 that managed to hint at the greatness of what had come before. I'm simply too invested now to miss out on any of the good, no matter how slight, that may be there to find.
In my humble opinion, this may just be the ultimate single episode in terms of representing the entire series.

Good luck with continuing on with seasons 4 and 5. I've recently been rewatching and loved this episode as much as I had when I first saw it. The funny thing is, it is watching these amazing episodes that made me more convinced not to continue with the last two painful seasons. I might change my mind at some point though!

Mulberry, thank you for the encouragement! Please do not mistake my very potentially regrettable decision to trudge on through seasons 4-5 (or even season 3's "Heiress") as a suggestion that anyone else should do the same, even once. I would actually advise wholeheartedly against it and will explain my apparent hypocrisy in due time. In truth, I just revisited "Maddie's Turn to Cry" (quite possibly my very favorite episode) early this morning (before sunrise), as part of my sequential review of the entire series, and I posted under its topic reasons why Moonlighting will always have its perfect ending for me with "I am Curious... Maddie" (which I am happily looking forward to as I write this; it's a nice place to be). If you are so inclined, here is a direct link to that post: moonlighting.proboards.com/thread/1432/most-moonlighting-moment-periodThanks again. Please stay tuned for further comments!

Well, Mulberry, I said I'd be back to explain why I decided to endure seasons 4-5 while at the same time advising against anyone else doing the same. Long story short, I needed to find footage for this: moonlighting.proboards.com/thread/1439/boink-future-rate-episodeP.S. I've changed my username from "curiouseverafter" to "Boink" because, thanks to the "episode" I've assembled, I don't need to end on "I Am Curious... Maddie" anymore.

I do understand why season 5 might not be everyone's favorite, but whatever wrong with season 4? To me, it's probably the best. Season 4 and the whole Sam drama.
