This is the one episode, in my opinion, that put ML in the "classiest class" all by itself. I can't help but think that this was done 21 years or so ago and that there has been NOTHING ever on TV like it since then. What?.............The Bachelorette"? ..................... "The Bachelor"?........"Survivor"?.............give me a break!! PS. Sorry if I offend any fans of the shows above. Just making a comparison, that is all!!

This is the outstanding episode in Moonlighting. Love, Passion, Music, Crime and the gorgeous settings are fantastic! Besides, Cybill and Bruce are extremely beautiful and sexy. I agree with everyones applause written on this board. After going through all the episodes and reading the article of gScreen couple chemistryh in this site, I started to wonder if there are deep meanings in their dreams, because Rita and Zack are definitely came from the depth of their minds. Maddie believes she loved him and she was betrayed by him. David thinks he would have done anything for her but he was used and thrown away by her. Both of them seem to have similar fear as well as strong desire to each other. I think Maddie is probably aware of David's sexuality and feelings for her, and maybe she subconsciously wants him. But she thinks he is such a party boy, not her ideal man. And she is afraid that she would lose her balance and pay a big price for him if she fell for him. On the other hand David knows he would do anything for Maddie. But he doesn't face up to his passion and desire for her. Usually David makes a quick move toward women he is attracted to, but when it comes to Maddie, he doesnft move until Blonde on Blonde and then he feels losing her by that space man. I like to think it means his earnest love for Maddie and his insecurity as well. Orc I canft help but wonder again if there are deeper secrets in his dream or characterc Anyway, I really admire how cleverly and fascinatingly this episode tells us the story how David and Maddie have such strong emotions smoldering deep inside. I also realized it was giving us a hint in advance that someday it would be impossible to stop them going to explode between David and Maddie... in gIfm curiousch a 10+

First of all, I just was singing "I Told Ya I Love Ya, Now Get Out!" to myself and decided to check the lyrics. I started laughing hysterically because a lyric that I always thought said, "Don't wait with samwiches by the phone" actually says "The doorway was there and it's by the phone." HOW? Think that hearing aid is long overdue. Anyway, I just love the back story on this ep, how they shot one dream sequence in the Warner Bros. style, one in the MGM style. And how once they got it in the can, they had trouble finding a lab that would develop the b&w film (typical of ML...not much proactive thinking!). Technical aspects aside, this is about as innovative as television gets. Just beautiful to watch. Most of my favorite parts come from David's dream...most of Zack is revealed through voice-overs and has all the comedic touches. When he's walking after the murder: "...how much guilt was I supposed to be feeling? How long would those signs float over my head?" ;D Then he's in the bar, having a "conversation" with the bartender. He leaves, bartender says, "Mouthy guy." ;D I was babysitting my cousin one night. He was coloring and I turned on my videotape of this episode. My cousin asked, "What's a sexist?" Uhhhh... This episode has everything...intrigue, danger, romance, comedy, music and is a great homage to film noir of the 40s. A 10 from me.

Think that hearing aid is long overdue. Well, I must have rev'd my DVD about 5 times, and I still hear, "...don't wait with samwiches...." I wonder who changed that lyric...Cyb? Glenn? Perhaps the hearing aid can wait. Another Zack line that I found funny: "I wasn't done talking to myself yet so I thought I'd be better company if I had a drink."

I just You Tubed a recording of an original version by June Christy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8aledPU1zoIt is DEFINITELY sandwiches by the phone. Those lyrics are incorrect as posted. At least for the version June and Cybill sang at least. Interestingly, there is one photo on that you tube video that has the singer with a hairstyle and dress VERY similar to one that Cybill wore in the show. Might be coincedence, maybe not. And yes, I have been waiting with sandwiches by the phone for 25 years.........

And yes, I have been waiting with sandwiches by the phone for 25 years......... A few minutes ago, I was feeling sad; then I read this and "suddenly, I'm all cheered up! Like Jiffy Pop! Without the grease." Jeez, can't stop quoting quotable quotes. According to the "Moonlighting Madness" website, it's one of the symptoms. Gray, you simply must meet Cybill one day! No man should have to die without his most precious wish not granted!! If your wish is granted can you take me with you? I have always wanted to share with her that I actually dressed like Maddie when I was 12.

I know I voted this one a 10 because it is quite simply the best hour of television I've ever seen. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, incredibly clever, and despite it not being about David and Maddie, it is all about David and Maddie. As shimmering silver view into the depths of their psyches and how they feel about each other (minus the murder LOL). I love how the dream is almost cathartic to them-- when they come in the next morning they are tentative and flirty again, as if they'd been through something together and worked something out over the course of the dream sequences. Of course, there is a last moment return to form, but what is revealed in the dreams progresses their story and relationship in a big way in the eyes of the viewer. It is form and substance that set this episode, and indeed, the series, in a class by itself.
P.S. And holy moly, that window kiss is still insanely sexy. Just WOW.
P.P.S. Cybill's singing was delicious icing on a scrumptious cake!

Creatively, I think this episode is the peak of Moonlighting's brilliant inventiveness. It's just so...damn...GOOD.
(And yes, the kisses are hot. Mmmm.)
