*spoilers*
What are your thoughts about the ending of this episode? I can't believe David would go through all the trouble of buying that rose and writing that letter to Maddie, and then, in the end, deciding not to leave them on her desk.
It would have been very nice for David to do that. Maybe Maddie is right: HE IS AN IDIOT!!!
But a loveable idiot! ;D

Oh I love that bit, I think think it's totally believable and in character. This is an episode where we see Maddie jealous of David seeing another woman and he clearly loves this. We already suspect that David has feelings for Maddie, and in this episode, he sees her jealousy and reailses that she possibly feels something for him, which is what inspires him to make a move. But as neither are forthright with their feelings, he can never be certain. His indecision in leaving the rose reflects his uncertaintly that the action would be well recieved.

I think this was one of the episodes that made me fall in love with Moonlighting. I remember I ran downstairs after I saw this episode for the first time and talked to my mother about it the whole evening (probably driving her nuts). She said she watched the show back in the 80s, but she couldn't remember all of it. Also when we saw Witness for the Execution, she said she never saw them (David and Maddie) going so far (kiss in the garage).
The scene with the rose is fantastic!

When I first saw this episode in the '80s I confess I really didn't understand the thing with the rose all that well. Or maybe I did. Part of me wondered if it was a touch of arrogance on David's part—that he felt he didn't "need" to apologize to her. But then I think I wondered if perhaps he was uncertain as to what to do, so he figured leaving nothing would be his best bet.
But now that I'm thinking about it again, I am sure that the rest of you are right—David was afraid of how the apology would be received, and wanted to keep his feelings close to his vest (so to speak).

I really need to get a life. I'm doing a lot of screenshots—I figure, I'm watching the episode anyway, why not get some screenshots? Anyway. Here are two from "Knowing Her." I added them to this thread because one of them is of . . . the rose!

Hmmm... Something is obviously amiss with my site, because a few people have commented about not seeing the avatars or pictures. I am beginning to wonder if certain ISPs block sites from my web host, or if my web host blocks certain ISPs. I had similar trouble on a different message board (some people couldn't see my pictures, while everyone else could). I never could figure out who was the culprit—the web host, or the ISP of the individual people. Very puzzling. I've put some pictures up on a different web host. Do these pictures show up? Do the original pictures still not show up? You've all got me curious as to what the problem is now! (Some avatars) (The "rose" picture and another one, put up on a different web host's site.)

Wow. Thanks for such a quick response, everyone!
Well, something hinky is going on. I just checked my one web host's "uptime" logs (shows if they've been offline), and they've been up and running all through September. So it's not that. I am a little confused, but my guess is that someone is blocking someone (ISP blocking host, host blocking ISP). Oh well. I guess I'll never know!
I've never noticed the host being down, and like ryangie97, I can see both sets of pictures. But bluemooner and Stephanie can't see the one set of pictures. This is so weird. Well, I'm just going to switch over to the new host from now on. Thanks for helping out, everyone!
