I vote "To Heiress Human" the nº 1 best episode that I ever see it...and keep it. I don't appreciate the last sence in "I am curious..." Too confused for my mind . 2 slaps + grabbing arm + kiss + rolling down + bed = PURE REAL KISS ?! Nope, for me
This is the most real kiss either of them would ever have in their lives.
It is
supposed to be confusing. That is because it is not all about happiness, as was clear from the fight. It is about many conflicting emotions and the release of all that had been building up inside both of them for years.
Maddie was angry that Sam left and that David hid in her bed. She had confessed all her feelings to whom she thought was another man. When the one waiting turned out to be David, she was irate that he had let her go on and do what she did, without moving or saying a word... Maddie clearly meant to be speaking to Sam, and for David to not do anything was in a way taking advantage of her.
David hears Maddie say all these meaningful things, and then hears her take them back, because she said she wanted the decision to be all for herself. "But that was for him. I never wanted you."
Huh? So was she putting on an act twice? How could she say something as important as "
But I love him too," and then immediately retract it? How could it be true one minute and not the next?
Do not forget that David mentioned "taking these pain pills" after he'd been injured in the fight in the garage. He was loopy on painkillers. That is very important and had to also be a contributing factor to the mood swings and intensity of feeling here.
Then she denies him, tells him to leave, and when he walks toward her--which to her makes it look like he's coming after her--she picks up a vase to defend herself.
Not necessary: he turns to go.
He runs downstairs, continuing to egg her on by screaming at her, and she follows. The fight goes on.
At last she belts him, two times, and orders him to leave.
This is how I feel about you...
And overwhelmed by the fact that this is
definitely the last time he will see her unless something very different happens, David realizes he has
one...last...chance[/i].
...
And this is how I feel about you.
Given the way the relationship between them had always brought out the extremes of emotion, they weren't going to have a simple time of it when they got together as is. If you think about the ideal romantic situation, no, this isn't it. But then, think about the characters, who have never been 'ideal' or perfect to begin with. Instead, they are complicated, flawed human beings. They always fight, they have always been very different and the road had to lead here.
It
does end with both of them very happy.
I will never forget seeing this episode for the first time. The opening of the last sequence frightened the daylights out of me, but by the end, it was also a relief.
As for them.
