Sorry, I can't help you Sakura - I'm afraid I'm still a bit of a Luddite about computers! Just watching my Season 3 DVDs and I saw a great example of eighties technology. When David arrives at the office complete with Mexican regalia he flings a record at Miss Dipesto who proceeds to play La Bamba. I'm fairly sure no office today (certainly not a detective agency!) would have a turntable. Come to think of it - why did an office in the 80's need one? Oh yeah that's right David Addison worked there!

David Addison had a Kaypro computer on his desk back in some of the earlier episodes....but then I think they got Apple's in all the offices fifth season. Maddie had an early Apple back in season 2 and one....but Addison had a Kaypro. That thing was huge and heavy. I learned computers on a kaypro. Here is what they looked like oldcomputers.net/kayproii.htmlAddison's was black though I believe not silver.

Kaypro...humm...never heard about that one. I know a few 80'S PC'S (Spectrum,Amiga,Commodore,Apple). I toke a look,and it's nice.
I've been see a picture in Maddie's office with an Apple PC Look here:
That cold be an Apple Macintosh from 1984,not suprised why a few episodes of Season 2 are from 1986.

Interesting topic gang.
Although there really are some changes when you compare the series with today, I don't think it dates it as much as others that actually relied on technology to tell the story. I think the story lines are timeless as the focus is on the people and the situation and the fun.
I know, you are thinking that there are TONS of pop culture references throughout the series and I have to agree with you, but I don't think this detracts at all. Except for some hair styles and maybe a padded shoulder or two I think you could change the calendar and nobody would be the wiser that this show was 20 years old. If you want to see what I mean, find an old copy of a contemporary Miami Vice episode. See???

Another thing I notice
Episode "Plastic Fantastic Lovers" David & Maddie recibe a videotape. Then they went to David's office to see the tape.
Is his video VHS (VCR) or BETA?

That's what we used in those days, good ol' pay phones. Instead of the internet you'd go to the library, or make phone calls, to get information. Personally, I miss those days.

And AIRBAGS! Could you imagine how many airbags would have popped during the infamous BMW destruction scene? Old Dave wouldn't have been able to see to hit another post!
