This was the first episode I ever saw, way back in 1986, and I was totally hooked from that point on. It's hilariously funny--except for the part where David comes to pick Maddie up for their "fine" evening. That part is just brain-meltingly romantic and sexy. I love it!

Lots of great moments in this one. Some of them: --When Maddie slips up and starts to say " you could wear a tuxedo," then corrects herself and says, " he could." She tries to pretend she didn't say that. David catches it, though--notice the gleam in his eye. Maddie can't stand to let him know that she actually might think of him as her 'ideal' man to be with in any way. Or that she might have ever before dreamt of how a date between them would turn out! ;D --Maddie goes through a ton of different shoes and dresses to choose her outfit. She really wants to look good and enjoy herself, but also she's trying to impress David. Another thing that under ordinary circumstances she'd be loathe to admit. But tonight is different...she's getting swept off her feet... ;D --When Maddie throws the paperweight, David shuts the door, turns to Agnes and says, "Got any raw meat?" And Agnes actually looks behind her. --"You have reached the counterterrorism hotline..." and then they're put on hold--and "Close to You" by the Carpenters plays as the Muzak! --Boogaloo. The frying pans. 'Nuff said! --The way Maddie looks in that hat. It's so odd, it's funny. --David: " He don't look that big." Maddie: " He's sitting down." (The Russian fighter: "Grrrr.") --David's pre-fight footwork...and then the way he starts out after the first bell facing completely the wrong direction. --"There are four O's in 'Boogaloo.'" --Maddie slaps David to wake him out of the punch-induced coma. He says "Owwwww" and knocks her hand away. --Don King, raising Maddie's hand after the fight: "I want the options on your next three fights, plus the cable and syndication rights." And, couldn't leave it out: David (beat half to death): " Are we having a fun evening or what?" Maddie (reaching out to touch his face): " Oh, baby." ;D

This episode is so hilarious! I laughed sooo much when David kept trying to get Maddie's attention, and she was just humiliated- she couldnt even look at him! The scene when David picks Mddie up at the door That is so sweet and both actors seem to be slightly out of character at times. Maddie/ Cybill seems so happy And of course the last line

Seeing Cybill getting funky with the Temptations.... CLASSIC MOMENT. I almost fell off my couch when I saw that scene!!!
I don't think i'll ever look at Maddie the same way again.

I must admit i too always thought that it seemed more like Bruce and Cybill`s emotions showing through more than David and Maddies during the scene when she answers the door to David .And also when Maddie runs the rose along her chin and then very seductively down her neck ( extremely provocative don`t you think )now i wonder if that was scripted or was Cybill flirting with Bruce on camera ? ;D Either way i think that scene just speaks volumes about how Maddie/ Cybill and David / Bruce felt about one another at the time.

Talking about Maddie/Cybill and David/Bruce, I remember reading a Cybill interview where she named this ep as one of her very favorites. I wonder why...

This episode was one of the most watched and discussed episodes in Greece when it first aired because it was considered very funny. Whenever I get back to it and rewach it I have to agree with that old notion.
Two scenes that cracked me up the last time I reviewed the episodes
David to the Theatre Cashier : " Who come to see this stuff?!?!?!?!"
David and Maddie's mute interaction (accompanied with Beethoven's fifth (was that the 5th?) inside the theatre.
Classic television.

Maddie (reaching out to touch his face): " Oh, baby." ;D I knew it! The first time I watched it I thought I heard 'baby', but I then I thought it couldn't be true, and that it was 'David'. That was great! She says 'baby'. ;D

Luckily I taped that episode so I watched it againt last night. When I was watching for the first time I didn't notice that she said anything. Well, that's the problem with titles - you read it and don't pay atention on actual speaking. That was great moment too, now when I heard with my own ears 'oh baby'

I think this is one if the funniest episodes they did. A lot of physical comedy from both Cybill and Bruce, which is not an easy thing to do. The copycat agents and the scene at the concert----still laugh like hell after all this time. Just good old goofiness. Keep the fun in mind because drama lies ahead for those two!!

I watched this one again last week for about the 100th time. It is great classic ML. Great banter, comedy, and great romance. At least up until the seating arrangements lol. Poor David tried so hard and didn't even get so much as a quick feel at the door

One of my favorite episodes ever! And I have to admit it's mostly because I see Cybill and Bruce more than Maddie and David here, especially when Maddie answers the door to David. That rose along her chin and neck was soooo Cybill! What I love most about that scene is to know that not everything was bad between them, and in fact they were having a great relationship. Apart from those many moments everybody mentioned, I still can't get over that "baby" at the end. Again, I think it was Cybill and not Maddie there. Again, classic episode with so many funny moments and Cybill/Maddie and Bruce/David at their best.
