Thinking about the scripted version - I think the bit about Maddie putting up a struggle makes more sense. After all, she was really angry at the turn of events and maybe her sudden change in attitude as filmed was a bit too quick. I like the idea that she put up more of a fight before giving in to her emotions.
Diane, that was great! Did they shoot the whole thing/does the whole scene exist somewhere, you think? If it does exist it would be fine for me to release it.
The script copy I have is the 28th revision of the first draft....besides this, there were definitely other changes. I am pretty sure it would not have been filmed, or if it was, it is long gone. The script is dated 3/25.....6 days before the original air date -- sounds like another last minute push to get it on the air!
When we interviewed Glenn Caron several years ago, he told us that he was pretty sure there was very little extra film around -- eg outtakes etc.

WOW, thanks so much Diane, on the script, it is even hotter!! Rips the sheet... Unbuckles his belt.... So that's why he ws buckling his belt... to have it unbuckled later.... Why oh why it hadn't been this way... why did Cybil have to get pregnant... why did Bruce have that accident... Yeah I'm being purely egotistical ;D
But all in all that's a great scene... perfect. I think the audience was about to go crazy at this point that, they were up for anything... lol.
As for the staircase, I like to think that he just scooped her up and carried her upstairs
That scene was what everybody was expecting for, people, I mean the audience was about to go crazy if they hadn't done it already. And when it finally happened... fireworks!
I don't know, not everybody might feel this way but in my opinion it was beautifully written, acted and directed... just the way it should be. I, personally, cannot imagine a tamer, more toned down scene...
