I'm reading to books at the moment - a biography about Gabrielle Chanel (which I got from the library and is now wildly overdue) and a biography about Judy Garland which I started while I was away last week. I thought I'd have time to read the whole thing on my trip but it turned out that I hardly had a minute to myself. So now I have two books on the go.

I also like biographies, Gem. Most recently however, I read The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. It was terrific.
I am also a big Harry Potter fan. Don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't yet read Half-Blood Prince but I will say that I will be bitterly disappointed if Snape turns out to be irredeemably evil in Book 7!!!

Got a bunch of stuff for my birthday: The Mountain of Silence, by Kryiacos Markides 101 Myths of the Bible, by Gary Greenberg The First World War, by Hew Strachan Lives of the Saints, by Richard McBrien Italian in 10 Minutes a Day, by Kristine Kershul This is the middle of spring, so it's a little early to start my annual tradition: the summer reading count. My record was 37 books in the break (about 2.5 months) between junior and senior years in high school. I'd like to break that sometime.

Just picked up the paperback of The Italian Secretary, by Caleb Carr. Had no idea this was out in hardcover last year. Funny thing, because I usually don't miss anything by him. It's a 'further adventure' of Sherlock Holmes. Although I always suspected Watson was the brains behind the outfit.

Well, in my dads study every wall is covered with books. I was storing my photographs last night and I found a book by Ernest Hemingway, Garden of Eden. I had heard his name somewhere, where did I hear it? Was that here?
Anyways, I started reading the first page hehe!
Oh and I'm still looking for Bleak House by Charles Dickens!

Stephanie, you most likely did read Ernest Hemingway's name here on this board. One of his more famous novels was "The Sun Also Rises". Of course, that is the name of the first episode of season three (with a slight spelling adjustment and therefore change of meaning) - The Son Also Rises.

Just started Carl Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World. Got it as an audiobook download, for free. (It's unabridged, narration by Michael Page, and runs 137 MB.) Oh, just a note by the way--since it was converted into mp3 from a cassette master, it repeats the occasional flaws of the first copy--a couple of chapters are for some reason cut off a few seconds before the end. (You can hear, he stops mid-sentence.) Sorry. Other than a few small flaws like that, it's a marvelous book.

I'm reading The Speed Of Light right now, by Elizabeth Rosner. It's about a brother, a sister and a housekeeper who all have a past. The sister wants to be an opera singer so she moves to Europe, the brother is afraid to go outside so he spends his time with eleven televisions in his room. Sola the housekeeper had to keep an eye on him and gets him to open up more.
It's written in a way that you can read their thoughts about eachother. It's all in the I-form (don't know if you know what I mean with that). The 3 people tell about their past and you discover how they became the people they are now. It's really good, very special, I never read a book like this before.

^Still reading the same book, boy I'm bad! It's only 241 pages long. whahah!
In the meantime I read another book tho. It's called Shadowsister and it's written by the Dutch writer Simone van der Vlugt. It's about twinsisters. One of them is a teacher at a "black-school" and the other one is a photographer. The first one gets killed and the second one tries to find out who did it. She can still feel the precense of her sister (that's why it's called Shadowsister). During the book you switch sisters, so you only find out in the end how the first sister got killed, and after that, when you change sisters again, who killed her.
It's a really good thriller. Simone is a really good writer, I can't wait for her next book.

I just can't remember what I've red last. Well, I know which books I red in previous week but, in which order I forgot. Ivo Andrić: Prokleta avlija Patricia Cornwell: All that remains I'm reading Honore de Balzac: La femme de trente ans (I'm reading it translated in my language, but I don't know how it's translated in English so I wrote original name) P.S. I beg you, if you have time correct my spelling, grammar, adjectives and so on. I know you hate irregular writing when you see smt soooo bad tell me

(I'm reading it translated in my language, but I don't know how it's translated in English so I wrote original name) Doesn't it tell you the original name on the first page of the book, or somewhere near it. Translated books usually have the original name written somewhere in the book itself.
