Received mine via UPS yesterday. While I haven't had time to view it yet, I will say the packaging is much better than the previous season releases. Season One/Two fell apart the first time I opened it and Season Three was missing the episode guide. But, in the end, I am just grateful that I now have all of Moonlighting on DVD. Mine to enjoy whenever, forever.

I got mine two days ago, couldn't believe how fast the DVDs have been shipped. Well, watched all 13 episodes since then. Some of them I hadn't seen in years since the VCR system I taped them back in the early 90s doesn't even exist anymore... Great to have the whole series on DVD finally!!! But I just finished "Lunar Eclipse" and I am really sad about the ending. Its sad there haven't been any commentaries with Bruce and Cybill but I think they chose the right season for the reunion: the third one my favorite! Enjoy watching. MLbest

Hi , i got mine last Wednesday and needless to say i went straight to the screen test which was awesome but i was kinda upset that it wasn`t the dance scene from the pilot that Jay mentioned in his previous comments , the dance scene from the pilot. Wow i`ve got so much to say i don`t know where to start! Well... I REALLY enjoyed the commentary on AWWAV, loved it when ever Jay mentioned how great Bruce and Cybill were together . And it made me chuckle at the beginning when Glenn and Jay are talking about the whole baby saga but keep using Bruce and Cybills names instead of their characters names. It`s also great to have all them in such good quality now . The only downer for me is Lunar Eclipse( again) Yeah i didn`t mind listening to Dennis completely but what i really wanted to know and this is something that Dennis never went over and that was how emotional it was working on that last ever episode and how emotional Bruce and Cybill got during the filming of it. Now if it was down to me i would have had all of the cast ( Bruce, Cybill, Allyce , Curtis as well as Glenn and Jay doing the commentary on Lunar and maybe we may have got the the real skinny and how high emotions were shooting the last ever episode . There must be some great stories that have been left untold these past 18 years, and i wouldv`e liked to have heard them.

I was quite sad all over again after watching Lunar Eclipse on the DVD. No more Moonlighting.
Of course now the challenge is to start at the pilot and wathch them all over again and again and again...

I really miss the sexual tension between David and Maddie. Even though there is still some bawdy innuendo, it feels different - maybe because the steamy stares and sexual desire are not there. Or maybe the romance is gone, not only in the relationship, but in other subtle ways. ... I was even noticing Maddie's/Cybill's facial expressions in some of the scenes - much more comedic. I did like some episodes but lin212 has summed up my feelings about season 5. Somehow the show feels empty of something vital throughout the season. It’s supposed to be more of a screwball comedy I guess but where is the davidmaddie-ness that set this show apart from all others? Many shows max out around the fifth year so the cancellation itself wasn’t surprising but I just have to wonder what everyone thought they were creating this time around. IMHO, they should have picked up exactly where they left off in season 4. David Jr. is born whole and healthy and our couple works through their romantic tension and some zany cases while ‘bringing up baby’ and finally there is a big David/Maddie wedding that turns into a video/montage accompanied by one of David’s upbeat Motown songs. Or something like that. The show probably would still have been cancelled, but it least we’d have had believable continuity, the quirky passionate relationship we liked so well and a series finale called “Supernova” instead of “Lunar Eclipse.” But I loved that screen test! Bruce and Cybill were on fire. They were so good – and Bruce was so hot my jaw hit the floor. How could the show have evolved from that to LE? I’ll never understand. I hope one day Bruce and Cybill, Allyce and Curtis, with as much of the original staff as possible, do a Moonlighting mini series. You can’t tell me they wouldn’t have fun with it if the script was right! Perhaps the fans could finally get the real ending they never got 20 years ago. I mean, after LE I have no sense of who or where the real David and Maddie were at the end of that episode.

Maddie Jr, I couldn't agree more, with your entire post. I felt like the writers were trying **too hard** with the cases and the screwball comedy. These same cases 3 years earlier would have been fantastic, but now they fall flat. Like "you can't go back home." Reminds me of a Maddie quote where she says something to the effect of "I never look back, that's why our eyes are in the front of our heads." The ML writers WERE looking back to the past for inspiration, and it didn't work. And the actors, they really just seem like they are ACTING. There is no spark, no chemistry, nada. Like someone blew out the flame on the candle. LE just devistates me, David ISN'T David anymore, there is no glint in his eyes as he sits at the altar with Maddie. Maddie, of all people, seems to be the most broken up about the end, and isn't she the alleged "ice queen?" David just isn't there anymore, and for me, to see the clips just reinforces that. I'd take a TV movie to wrap things up. Heck, I'd even take a LIFETIME TV movie (the U.S. post-ers should get that joke -- I'm bad with jokes, like Maddie telling a duck joke ) Perhaps a 20 year absence will make Maddie and David's hearts grow fonder, and they can give us the proper ending we deserve. In a season 4 episode ("Eek, a Spouse!" me thinks) Maddie says something to the effect of "When they close the book on us and if we never got married, never had a child, that's OK! Because what we have is stronger than licenses and vows. It's in our hearts and in our minds.". The season 5 writers apparently never got that memo. Apathy is the strongest emotion these characters have. (Or maybe ambivalence? ) Hopefully, Glenn Caron can remember that and write us loyal viewers an epilogue to wrap this up (and I think "Supernova" would be a killer title!!).

maddieaddisonjr & honeyblonde, I couldn't agree with your posts more regarding Season 5; it's like watching the same people but nothing is the same anymore... I too wish that Glenn Caron comes up with a sparkling idea for a ML reunion movie, so that we can put LE away

I must say that there are still some very funny moments in season 5 so I guess a Moonlighting collection just wouldn't be complete without it. That screen test alone is almost worth the price. You could cut the chemistry in it with a knife! Honestly I've never seen that much between any other actors before or since.
If you had a choice, which episode would be the last one, the point at which Maddie and David are still basically 'intact?' I'm not sure if for me it would be "To Heiress Human" or "And the Flesh Was Made Word." Although I think the way Maddie was written in #4 was borderline disastrous, I found 'Lovesick David' to be quite attractive and the season ended with our couple more or less together and on a positive note. And with a wee babe on the way!

I know this thread has been dormant since April, but in one of my usual ML searches on MSN I saw the cover art for Season 5 is different, and in my opinion MUCH better outside of the US. Here is a link to one of the sites:
