great post, maddieaddisonjr. I know, it really made no sense what they did to her character. I mean, I get Maddie having reservations about being with David, but not the argument she used as to why. Like you said, they've done all the usual dating stuff by that point. Okay, so she wanted to have a more "routine," going to the movies and leaving the house relationship, but it was their "honeymoon" phase. That would have come eventually.

It's been too long since this discussion about it, but now rereading I have to say that I agree with you Lin. Maddie complains about things that ever happen between her and David, they already do things that couples do more than 3 years

There are so many episodes where they mention grabbing a bite together. I can't understand why the writer's would even put in a more ridiculous reason. You work with someone day and night for 3 years and you never ate with them??? Really! Maddie should just have come out with what I think is her real reason. She doesn't believe that David will commit to her and she is afraid he will get tired of her..For some reason,s he seems to think of David as a womanizer..like she says about the wishbones he's known over the years. And David never eases her fears and brings up commitment or marriage. Where is the relationship going is what Maddie keeps dreaming of. That was on her mind..I think she wanted a commitment and David never mentioned one. Just my opinion!

I remember how annoyed I was watching this when it first aired -- we waited so long for this episode and to continue this David and Maddie 'relationship' and then they wasted ALL that time in the middle when David is trying to get Maddie to come out of the house (pretending some guy is dying). Wow, such a waste of time...we just wanted to see them together and happy for at least a LITTLE BIT! But no! Maddie acts like a total B^&* and David kisses major A$$.
Then, when she finally comes out of the house there is no plan for the date...he should have had a plan.
Also, I hate the part where he gives her the fake flowers from that woman's desk in the office....he should have brought flowers...in the office, to the house...ah well.
