I did always think it a bit odd to cast someone so much younger as Annie, if Maddie and Annie were supposed to be so close. Well Tamm...honestly I did always think it a bit odd to create the character of Annie at all.. I love your thoughts on the issue, agree! Agreed if only that hadn't happened

Or, if the storyline had gone differently. I think Annie was indeed meant as a catalyst, and such was desperately needed; David and Maddie, at that point, seemed to be stuck in their "pal-", or more, in their non-relationship. Maddie's unmistakable and cool "I don't think so" to David's suggestion to go out together more often shows that clearly. If Annie hadn't come along, they'd be slowly drifting more and more apart. Unfortunately, the writers didn't handle that chance well, to bring the relationship forward...

I don't remember if it is in this episode or the Ein one but I hated when Annie was leaving to go to David's and Maddie tells her she isn't going to get much sleep that night...and then he snores. What the hell is up with that? ?

I don't remember that bit. I suppose Maddie can't bring herself to think about the real reason Annie won't be getting much sleep

I mean, watch it sometime and see if you can tell me what the end of David and Maddie's story is. It's one big blank, isn't it? I could be grasping straws here, but I think this was supposed to be the end of their story: Like Cy(aka Walter Bishop ) said, people didn't want to see them as pals. During the entire 5th season, we had all those scenes that inspired hope or showed feelings on Dave's or Maddie's side...only to be completely forgotten or ignored in the next episode(or sometimes even next scene). I guess the truth is, Dave and Maddie just weren't supposed to have an ending. They surely tried(last minute wedding, visiting Cy), but they didn't get it. So with them ending ambiguous, isn't that pretty much how they were throughout the whole show? Dave was usually honest about his feelings for Maddie up until season 5. Maddie was always hiding behind her wall or "had to think". In season 5, David didn't seem to care anymore or started hiding his feelings as well(only not the way he did till season 3). And for doing that, they got that ending, which is that they had to pay the piper for never taking that step. I think that's the end/lesson: Act/say something, before it's too late. Maddie and Dave didn't do that. So all they have at the end is a lot of memories(and a lot of sad, disappointed fans). Let me know what you think.

This is an old topic but I've just finished a rewatch and I'm still contemplating I said on another thread that I thought the Demi scene was out of place but maybe was supposed to mirror Maddies feelings at the beginning of Blonde and I think maybe it does. Also This watch I thought it was so odd to see David dressed all in black in WGC when they go out. He was never dressed that way before (well except for the stakeout). Then I remembered Maddies black dress cut down to South America in Sam and Dave. So yeah I think A was supposed to be a catalyst like Sam but it definitely didn't end with the same satisfaction. Still wonder what could have been if only the show hadn't been cancelled. why oh why couldn't we have had at least one or two more episodes for them to figure out their nitwit relationship??
