this is probably the only episode w/ she who must not be named that i sort of like. it shows us, i think, that david still cares for maddie. when he's with A$#%@e it's sort of plain. like they're too much the same. i think it even bothers david a bit. i like when he asks her, "you don't think my jokes are too stupid?" at the beginning he enjoys having someone like that, but it gets old. david lives to banter w/ maddie. and, as soon as you see them on-screen together (even when they're nasty), the show livens up. maddie and david have a complex relationship that challenges them. they always have deep conversations/ w/ A, it was just run of the mill. i don't know, that's how i saw it. when A says she feels stuck in the middle, david doesn't deny it and heads to maddie's house. oh, if only she had invited him in. it's nice to hear M/D theme in this one. i give this one a 5.

I agree, bluemooner. I think the A episodes at least put the spark back in the M/D relationship. The "pals" thing was really getting on my nerves. I believe that the writers may have been using the A situation to put M and D back on the romantic track, but never were able to develop the plot due to the cancellation. I give it a 6.

that really would have been nice if they had been able to see things through. a 6th season or a even one more episode would have been good. i was thinking, i wonder what the final ep would have been if the people involved thought they'd get a renewal. i wonder how Lunar Eclipse might have ended if it was regarded as just another episode and not the series finale. it might actually have had a better ending. (i mean, of course, still having annie leave w/ mark at the end)

Out of all th A...e episodes, this one i can tolerate more then the others. It isn't such a bad storyline and i liked the Detective/cop hanging around Maddie. He was really nice to her and it seemed to make David a little jealous but obviously not enough. It sure could have been done that way to make him more jealous but they chose to continue David being in lust with A...e BLAH! I guess i give it a 6.

Haha me too! I agree David was a little jealous. When Maddie hasn’t invited him He was surprised and a little disappointed don't you think? Mick Donegan is OKey I like him. So...I'm with Rose I give it a 6 too.

Yup, i think ole dave was quite suprised she didn't invite him in. is it just me or does he drive away kinda fast? i guess not really like he's peeling out, but he kinda drives off w/ a, "i can't believe she really didn't let me in" look. I think he wanted to talk to, maddie, about more than mr. anselmo's will. and then when david leaves at the end, maddie just shakes her head. that's exactly what we all probably did. oh, those two, so stubborn. if only they could see what the audience does when they're each alone. and definitely rose, they could've made him more jealous... that would have been great great. i like donnegan too.

It always broke my heart to see how the friendship between them dissolved when Maddie won't even invite David in, he is suprised and it's funny casue Dave did have a key to her house for awhile, he rang the door bell and couldn't he of just let himself in but i guess he didn't to be polite maybe. Ah who knows, but yes it upsets me.

It would have been better if both David and Maddie were more jealous and had a big argument about their past. Annie and David together are very blah-blah - which is good. But we don't get any meaty interaction between David and Maddie - which is very bad. There was some nice drama with Maddie running from the killer in the beginning. All in all I gave it a 6, but considered a 5.

I couldn't give the episode more than 5.
The reasons have to do with the confusing state that leaves us about Maddie and David: David is a bit jealeous, Maddie is bitter regarding David dating Annie (and a little bit jealeous aswell), The only thing that saves it from being worse was the SWAT entry to Maddie's house and her screwball reaction, but the fact that David leaves her alone at the hotel, kills every last effort for an upbeat mood.

I have widely varied thoughts about this episode. First off, I kinda liked the case and the detective bit. I really thought he was a dirty cop until the end, when you realized his meeting in the limo was to get the confirmation on the REAL dirty cops from his underworld contacts. So from that angle I liked it.
What really struck me was how they finally got around to absolutely killing any remaining spark between Dave and Maddie. Sorry gang, but to me, there was absolutely NO buzz between them in any of their scenes together.
Dave taking Anselmo case stuff to Maddie's house? Come on dude! What did you EXPECT Maddie to do? You are boinking her married cousin for goodness sakes. You know that tweaks her up to the nth degree and you expect to just waltz over like nothing is going on and expect Maddie to welcome you in with open arms! Fuggetaboutit!
The episode just has me getting the creeps for all the characters actions. Annie cheating on her husband with Dave. Dave ignoring what I "thought" was his inner moral compass by carrying on that affair. Maddie lying to Annie's husband about her whereabouts. It was just a merry go round of bad behavior and deception. And yes, it probably is real life.
For the first time in series history, I personally didn't care for any of them. Golly.
As an aside, the outfit that Maddie wears in the last (hotel) scene is in my wife's closet. We won an online auction a couple of years ago. She also has that purple and cream dress that was in Symphony in Knocked Flat.

After a second watching I can see that the D/M magic is still there. That little exchange after the SWAT team burst in (*L!*)and the cheek kiss David gave her was vintage Moonlighting. Why did David crash Maddie and Annie's lunch like a total jerk? That was just mean. Maddie looked better in this one and frankly, she deserves better than the 'Clone of David' we have in these final episodes. Talk about character assassination! Anyway, this is still one of the better S5 shows. I enjoyed it.

I didn't like this much, it's like they don't even care about each other anymore, no love & no hate, just confusion, gave it a 6 from the good beginning, & the funny parts, especially "Can't they use one window!!" hailarious!

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I can't help notice the look David gives Maddie towards the end where she is sitting on the back of her couch trying to put back together a vase or something. I see sparks for a very brief moment and a look of regret and sadness from Maddie. A VERY short scene where Cybill and Bruce said very little but also said a TON!!! But graycav is right. For the most part the real Dave and Maddie have left us........
