With the Soprano's series ending last night, and the resultant controversy, I was wondering if anybody on the list had "last episodes" from other series they really liked.
For the record, I liked the Soprano's ending. Everybody can make up their own mind about what happened next, after the screen went blank.
Lunar Eclipse is universally panned....what shows went out on a high note?

Ah the Sopranos: I didnt watch it but i heard my mom and sister last night yelling at the tv downstairs while i was putting my kids to bed. I hate when a tv show ends badly. It's been almost 20 years since ML ended and i'm still not over it. Sad but true. Angel the tv show ended badly too which i loved the show but so hated the ending. But you asked what show ended on a good note and i was just discussing this with my hubby tonight:FRIENDS. Everyone went off with who they were meant to be with happily. Thank good ness for me cause i would have been mad if Ross/Rachel didnt end up together LOL

Have to agree, Rose. Friends did end well but my pick for a happy ending without being too predictable would have to be Frasier. Excellent show and also great ending. On another note a great series from Oz which I've mentioned on this board before - Seachange also ended well. I think because it was made by the ABC (our equivalent of the BBC) and they planned to make 3 series and tied up all the loose ends. Imagine if ML had finished after 3 series!!!

I'm on board w/ the Friends finale being well done. I had a party w/ all of my friends to watch the last epsiode...i probably drove them nuts. all i kept saying was, "this better end better than another show i won't mention." thank goodness for them because i would have been screaming at the tv if ross and rachel didn't get together. LOL
i also liked Jag's finale.
oh man, if ML had ended after IACM, what a nice shot to leave us with...maddie and david beaming w/ joy. sigh

Intriguing question, graycav. I have always thought that the final episode of The Wonder Years helped to make it a perfect series. I keep hoping they will get the music licensing worked out so that the series can finally be released on DVD.
Regarding The Sopranos, I don't think the blackout would have been as resented by viewers had the producers offered a postscript scene showing some aspect of life the next day, post-event. That way they could have given the audience some sense of closure, some confirmation of what transpired, without showing specifically what went down.
As for what shows went out on a high note, I think the series finales for M*A*S*H and The Fugitive have both always been highly ranked.

HBO's Six Feet Under ended with a great episode, I think. Showing everybody age and die was just perfect.

I forgot about Six Feet Under. I loved that ending, but the Mrs did not so much. The only "exit" from that finale I didn't particularly care for was Keith's. I would have hoped he would not have met such a violent fate as being whacked in an armored car robbery.

Yeah, Keith's ending did stink. But, I guess life is life. And I think they wanted to show that Keith got back into the type of work that he liked, sort of. At least he was no longer a personal bodyguard for that Roger creep.

Charmed also had a nice finale and also Gilmore Girls besides the Rory/Logan break up.

Oh you guys watch news shows lol! I thought you only watched classics haha .. Anyway a lot of shows had a good ending, Friends yeah, although it wasn't very funny, it was satisfying, Alias, but it was really sad cause Irina died, it wasn't very fair to her character, Buffy had a very very good ending, I was so happy season 5 wasn't the last like it was supposed to be, it could have been an other moonlighting! & this reminds me, with Buffy, the first 3 seasons were amazing, but the 4th & the 5th really sucked, so the network was going to cancel it, but another network bought it, so we had season 6 & 7 which were my favourite seasons of that show! they were very different but still pretty good .. I wonder if that could have happened with Moonlighting if it had 2 more seasons .. I guess we'll never know
