Like most of us i choose to remember them from season 3 and that historic scene of them inlove and in bed for the first time gazing into each others eyes.... Ahhh so sweet so tender. Yes lauraa, I agree with you, completely. They were meant for each other. David and Maddie were expected to get together, and stay together. It doesn't matter what they did to our show after IACM... That sizzling scene is a treasure buried deep into our watery eyes. No one on earth can take that away from us.

I don't necessarily like "Lunar Eclipse", but I have always wondered why everyone insists that David and Maddie didn't end up together. Or at least tried to work out their relationship after they said good-bye to us. I know everyone would have liked an ending like IACM and it was tough to take Annie in the last episode of ML, but we were given a few clues that just maybe they would end up together.
1. running to the church 2. "We'll Be Together Again" playing at the end 3. Annie exits 4. They are at least holding hands at the end and Maddie admits she can't believe she will not be seeing him again the next day.
I just want to know WHO said they would not be together? If they had had more time at the end instead of coming to a screeching halt with LE, they probably could have given us a different ending..........who knows?!!! They had too many issues that needed resolution and not enough air time to do it. IMO.

If they had had more time at the end instead of coming to a screeching halt with LE, they probably could have given us a different ending..........who knows?!!! Bees, the point is: They didn't. In our minds they're together, of course... The truth is that those last 10 minutes of Lunar Eclipse are a big mistake. Correction: EVERYTHING from When Girls Collide to Lunar Eclipse is a mistake. The first rule fiction writers must learn is this: Be true to the characters you're working on.Do you really believe David, the David we know to be "madly, completely, head-over-heels" in love with Maddie, would've jumped in a relationship with someone else? If so, with Maddie's cousin?? Maddie's cousin!?! Well I'm sorry, but I don't buy it. IMHO, this is the root of the problem: they did not write ML scripts. About your observations: 1. Running to the churchDavid and Maddie didn't run to the church because they finally realized they couldn't do without each other... They did it because they were scared of being cancelled. Is was not a spontaneous choice. 2. We'll be together againYeah I remember that song... I wasted a family size tissue box over it. It prompted me to start reading ML fanfiction. 3. Annie exitsTrue. But see above: she shouldn't have existed at all. IMO. 4. They are at least holding hands at the end and Maddie admits she can't believe she will not be seeing him again the next dayOf course they are. They're partners. Now. Forever. In conclusion: I think most of us wanted to SEE them together at the end of Lunar Eclipse. Truthfully. I guess we wanted to HEAR David say he'd been a jerk fooling around with A***e. I guess we wanted to hear Maddie say: "Apologies accepted", then SEE them kiss and walk toward the sunset, hugging and holding each other... But no. None of this ever happened. And here we are. Crushed. Broken-hearted. All that we can do is cherishing the past and writing the episodes and alternative endings we'd have liked to watch on TV.

Runs screaming from vision of Annie under the veil, a la "Mulberry Street"... I have to agree, bees--though it wasn't what I would've chosen, and it still upsets me to watch it, it could've been worse. The writers did leave room for us to sort them out in our imaginations, even (wonder if they thought of this at the time) for a reunion show.

You think so? Well, maybe you're right. I guess Bruce and Cybill have plenty of new projects on their mind... At least we'll always have...Fanfic! And the DVDs, of course... And this board! ;D

As Bees said...that article is complete rubbish. In fact, Bruce has said something to the effect that it ranks right up there with being the center square on Hollywood Squares.

OH...I forgot a point I wanted to make.
I've got to disagree with the notion that Annie didn't need to exist.
Maddie hurt David deeply, and it affected the fans and their feelings about her. She takes some steps back in making it up to David, but in a very common writer's device, they MAKE HER PAY. She needs to suffer something similar to what she put David through before they can reconcile. And the fact that it is so heavy handed is because of the rush to get it in before the show ended.
Remember....LE came up after the cancellation.......according to the numbering of the episodes, season 5 was originally planned to end with Perfetc......and the cliffhanger invitation to Paris.

I agree with diane on the Annie existence issue. They weren't completely ignorant at this point.....we're still talking about it, aren't we???!!! .....I was glad to see her go though..........

Yes Diane, You're absolutely right. I rewatched When Girls Collide just yesterday, and it's true... A***e serves that purpose. It was all just kind of abrupt... Yeah, watching the reconciliation after A***e's departure would've been GREAT... What a pity! Remember....LE came up after the cancellation.......according to the numbering of the episodes, season 5 was originally planned to end with Perfetc......and the cliffhanger invitation to Paris. Oohhh, Diane... I'm taken aback... I did not know any of this.... This makes all the difference in the world.
