Whoa, what a heated discussion on this ep there was! Diane, I liked your comment very much. Anyway,
I won't for sure come to convince you Sam Crawford wasn't a bad guy! ;D
I'm impressed and feel quite humble as to the league of professionals I'm trying to play in here! Wow! I think I'll just give my thoughts as they hit me, without answering the given questions one by one, I hope I'm excused.
As to the previous discussion - I don't think it's a question of judging who's the jerk here and who isn't; I think both of them (Maddie and David) have their points, and both of'em make mistakes. A good method is indeed to ask yourself what you would do if you were in so-and-so's shoes - that's a good method in real life, too, if I may add.
David of course, at a certain point,
was behaving in a childish way, and Maddie was right to tell him the important thing was that his father was happy, and not that it maybe made him uncomfortable.
But - like often - she didn't convey her message very pleasantly. That has nothing to do with not telling a friend the truth - of course that's what friends are for!
But I agree, in the garage scene she should have shown more sympathy to David. I didn't fully understand why she tells him she was
never in her entire life so disappointed by a human being - now that was a bit exaggerated, wasn't it, blondie? I mean, come on - she was a bit selfish too in "Every daughter's..." when she wanted to tell her mother the truth about her dad's affair, just because she thought one mustn't lie.
And I think David convinced her a bit more sympathetically then than she does here. Her - IMO too sharp - remark makes me think she may indeed be a bit jealous of David's past, or more upset that obviously it had made
such a great impression on him.
What
really ticked me off about Maddie here is more her reaction - or should I say: non-reaction - in the bathroom scene, when she just left, left him there all by himself. Okay, she had tried to make David tell her what was the matter, but she should have known that he needed a bit more convincing - I mean, babe, you know the guy a bit by now, don't ya?
And he had definitely told her he needed her there right that moment. BTW, he reacted just like she would have - I can't tell you, I don't wanna tell you, it's nothing - sound familiar? See.
Ah, and as nobody spoke about Steph so far other than as David's one-night-stand - I'd like to mention that the scene with her and David when they clear up the matter IMO is one of the most touching scenes in this ep, great acting of both! Gotta love Steph here, pores or no pores! And it was nice seeing Rich again.
Was there something else? Ah, of course... I agree, this is a rather serious episode, but come on - that's no reason for not posting my fav quotes, is it?
David (to Agnes, blindfolding her): "Any last requests? Cigarette? Me?" try and ask me that question... and I'm a non-smoker!
D: "Geeve me all your clothes, and por favor do it slowly!"
M: "You'll need a bigger gun!" LMAO!!
D: "Told the saleslady you already had nice maracas... (knock on the door) Word must be out. Bet that's somebody that wants to see you shake'em."
Agnes: "Oh, Mr. Addison, I'm glad you're here!"
D: "You and your entire gender, Agnes." Every
other male would have disgusted me with such a smug line! I wonder why David doesn't... ;D
M: "Could I see you in my office, please?"
D: "See me what? Oh, I get it. Not in front of the kids, huh?"
D: "Dad, say something."
D, Sr.: "No crawling." Gotta say, the Sr. cracks me up, too!
M: "I don't understand how your mind works."
D: "Me neither. But you gotta love the results." and she doesn't object...
Well, that was my start of season 3... good night, folks!
