Found this: WHATEVER FLOATS YOUR BOAT phrase (also whatever blows your skirt up) [1980s and still in use] (U.S.): A general phrase of acquiescence; whatever you like; whatever make you happy. (Cassell’s Dictionary of Slang) This reminds me of another quote: "Whatever curdles your cream"... LOL! That's from "Next Stop Murder"!

5. In spite of the fact that I think the storyline of this episode is weak, it's got to be one of the most quotable episodes. (I think the writer, Joe Gannon, must have switched to stand-up with so many good one liners).
What's your favorite quotable quote...or two...from this episode?
a) "No, why, has he ever heard of me?"
This line has me doubled up with laughter every single time I hear it!! ;D I mean, look at his face when he says that! That's too much for my poor stomach! I can't watch this ep neither at lunch time nor at dinner time! LOL! ;D
b) "She gets like this. Too much television."
Damn right, Dave!
c) And finally... YABBA DABBA DOO!! ;D

. This is a silly question, I know, but let's face it folks, this is not one of the best episodes, and it is certainly not full of deep topics to discuss.....so I move to MADDIE'S HAIR RETROSPECTIVE...who thinks they were auditioning hairdressers in this episode? LOL funny Diane! Well maddie sure has worn many different hairstyles through the whole series. I do love the loose hair the most in this one! When her hair is loose she seems more at eease, and when it's all poofy sand stiff she seems more stiiff, does that make sense? The hair to the side at the end is a little odd but it does work on maddie,it makes her very sophisticated and sexy i think, she does pull it off with the way she talks at the end too, and you guys are right, kinda like an old time actress such as Lauren Bacall! The whole scene at the end though does come over very sexy though doesnt it? So early on the sexual tension was there! LOL

4. Maddie's conversation with Preston Holt has her revealing personal info about her modelling days. Is Maddie opening up to a stranger something you might expect, or possibly just a writer's viewpoint without knowing her longterm character?
Hmm, I don't buy the story our Maddie would open up to a stranger in that way.
I think that:
a) the writers were still struggling to nail down her character;
or
b) Maddie was thinking: "You know something I need to know, Prestie. That is my first big client and I don't care squat if I gotta suck up on you tonight to get what I want! So I'm gonna tell ya some stuff 'bout me so you'll tell me something 'bout you. But don't get any ideas, Mr. Barracuda: you're not my kind of horse!"
Well, I could keep writing this tripe all night long... ;D
Tripe's my specialty! LOL!

I find that interesting that Mr. Baker disrespects Vivian's abilities, yet won't make any major decisions without consulting the spirit of his deceased wife. Odd. WOW graycav, such a great point, i never thought of that but you are so right on! Yes Vivian is treated way harsher with the sexism role with her father/brother than David treats Maddie, yes there is sexism between D/M, David definitley feels in the beginning that Maddie will just be a pretty face to keep this business floating but she sures proves what a tough cookie she is right away

3. Physical assaults on David... I remember as kids when a boy likes you, he usually hit you because he didn't understand his feelings towards you (viewed as a girl but this is vice versa)... Great observation, sinceifell4u! A boyfriend-wannabe once bit my arm in the 2th grade... Amazing but true, I know... Not the boyfriend-wannabe part, of course! LOL, I know right! Get your hands on them anyway you can, even if it's a punch in the arm...boys, I tell you, LOL

3. This episode continues the trend of Maddie continuing to physically assault David. Do you react to her kicks, pushes, punches, etc as a good thing? Is it really too early in their relationship for her to be that physical with him? Well Maddie slapped our dear old Dave from the get go and showed him how to throw a real punch too right from the beginning, Maddie seems like she will be a very physical girl and well we know she is from the rest of the series. Some people show their feelign that way, like its been said, well maddie hits, pushes, kicks David it seems to get her point across. I guess she proved to David she can handle herself just as well as he can cause shes tough. And its true you dont expect that from a girl like Maddie, the Supermodel Hmmm maybe she had to learn to punch, hit,etc to keep off jerks while she was modeling? LOL

IBM, I don't know...maybe Maddie felt if she opened up to him, he'd open up to her and give the information she was looking for...maybe, just a thought

I think that was...modern! Odd...But nice! Innovative! It is kinda ironic, though, that in this ep, her hair is most "fussy" when she herself is showing her softer side... There. That's all the "deep meaning" I can get out of it. I tried! ;D That's exactly what I was trying to convey! Agree 300%, jpen! I always thought Maddie's hair is a symbol of her iciness. Boy, how I love that uncombed hair in the roof scene! And Dave is right: wet do becomes her! Ah, I love that messy look! She looks more human indeed! IBM, I love the up do too~I'd wear it and I am fabulous, lol
