IBM Said: Dave's is not capable of being cruel. He's a sweet, caring, warm man. He was hurt. That's all. Sorry Missy, but I totally disagree with you here. Dave can be just as cruel as the next person. This is a Philly kid...he eats cruel for a midnight snack. You don't survive 6th and Girard being all sweetness and light. I DO agree that he wasn't being cruel in this particular instance, but behind the Ray Bans and limbo contests lurks a guy who could be a real handful, if the occasion called. I disagree too, ibm....sorry!! Look at Season 5 about around WGC...... Well bees, that was not our Dave, you know... The writers didn't stay true to his character. Don't worry 'bout that, kids! I'm patching things up....Nuff said!

7. What do you believe David's perception of Walter is? Does his perception remain the same or does it change in the course of the episode? If so, when?Last question! David is bitter toward the image of Walter he had drawn in his mind (he thought he'd be a bone structure freak, a poster, just like Maddie in the old days). But when he actually meets him... ROFL! He's standing before a winter wren! LOL! Oh, Wally...Such a sweet little man! Here is where David acknowledges there's no game for Wally! Dave's too much of a temptation to resist to... RIGHT, LADIES? LOL! Anywho, he realizes why Maddie got married: she was Avoiding... She's not in love with this guy, she just married him to avoid committing to David... But you don't wanna hear that! You ALL know this stuff! LOL! Turn Nr.2: The Bachelor party My feeling is that David is almost sorry for this guy, really! Maddie picked him because of the aforementioned reasons... Dave knows Wally's gonna be dumped, sooner or later. Hey yo, Dave! Don't give up, bro! Well, he doesn't (Thank God! ;D)...And his stubbornness is what gifts us that wonderful kiss and that striking dumb ending scene.

I'm not sure I qualify to comment, since I didn't technically get to rewatch the episode, but I did peruse some of your comments during the wee small hours.
The "David love" is fun, and it is gratifying that we love him in good times and bad.....when he is being adorable and also when he is being a jerk.....
I have to raise the accolades to the man behind the character.....especially in the 4th season. Bruce Willis had to carry a heavy load to keep the show going during that season, and I really believe he puts in some of his best acting performances of the series.
"Father Knows Last" is the one that always jumps to mind, but when you get a chance, take a look at the many scenes in season 4 that really qualify David as a person just as confused as Maddie, and trying valiantly to keep himself going one day at a time.
One of my favorites has to be the scene in Terri's apartment, when after a miserable and preoccupied dinner, he invites her to the wedding.
(I'm paraphrasing, but I think I'm pretty close...)
Terri: How do you feel? David: I'm great....I'm fine.....I'm tickled pink, and green and various other colors. Terri: Like black and blue? David: No way......she never laid a glove on me.
How could your heart not bleed for the guy? (and isn't that a powerful piece of writing as well?)
I think it is a good time to pause and remember that Bruce Willis's portrayal is the catalyst that makes us allies of David in his torment this season.
Enjoy your day!

Yes, BW is amazing in the apartment scene...but I also love his stuff in that final hospital scene. After Maddie says "I wish, with all my heart..." he says nothing, but you can watch his mind working--he's so damn tired, so stripped of his usual optimism and verve, but you can see him taking it in and weighing whether he wants to give it another shot... A tour de force of silence!

I love supporting him and Cybill in everything they do. It all started with this amazing show Glenn created

Especially those last few episodes UGH i'm sick thinking about it LOL And IBM are you hinting that you are making a new ending for us ? LOL

Bruno (this is the by-name he uses when he performs in public, BTW ) is my all-time favorite actor! I always root for him, too! And for Cybill, too, of course!! ;D Ah, the ending scene..I agree with you, jpen: David looked tired out... BUT, even if Maddie used his guts for a mop, what does this guy do? He holds out his hand to her. It's such a mature act! Don't you think? He just looks at her, gives her a little smile and makes an effort at bridging the gap between their ripped up hearts.

5. What is David going to prove by throwing Maddie a wedding? Well he's trying to prove 2 things:1 he's going to prove to maddie this whole wedding thing is a fake, a fraud and a joke. He's calling her out on it in a big way. And then to the rest of the world he's trying to be mr tough and show everyone else like hey i'm FINE with maddie being married. Now lets party! LOL yes David did a good job of getting totally drunk at the night befores bacehlor party to show how over maddie he was LOL 6. About David's behavior at the church: is he trying to make Maddie jealous? Yes and no. He brings Terri with him cause of who she is to him, he's her lamaze partner and also now his very dear friend and he needs to lean on her but in the same time he knows another woman with David will drive Maddie completely NUTS! LOL And it so does! She cant stop looking at them when she comes in to the church and she even asks Agnes who is the woman with mr Addison? i think that totally threw Maddie for a loop~! LOL So he got what he wanted out of the deal

I just think the Maddie and David we've come to love and care for were not there anymore (I'm referring to S5). The writers put and awful ending to a show which, IMO, deserved MUCH MORE respect. I believe ML was / is important to A LOT of people on this planet, for whatever reasons. I mean, these are great characters we have here. You just can't put 'em in a box once you've got the cash in your pocket! It was a sellout. P.S. Hold on to your chairs, buddies! Crazy Ol' IBM is getting busy! LOL!

WOW the last question: 7. What do you believe David's perception of Walter is? Does his perception remain the same or does it change in the course of the episode? If so, when?
David has his thoughts on what type of guy walter is: The guy from the coolers commercial ROFLMAO! He is really shocked to see him. Even Bert finds it very funny! He definitely thinks Walter is so big dork and trys to spin a story about him and maddie and thinks Walter falls for it. But walter proves him wrong when we see him tlak to maddie after that in her office. He kinda knows alot about david Addison from that 1 meeting . He got lots of sparkle! And do you notice Maddie how maddie doesnt say anything back to Walter in this scene. Cause she knows David! I agree with everyone that david perception changes at the bachelor party, he really feels bad for this guy, he was setting him up in a way and then he feels bad. Like this guy isnt a bad guy.
It is funny when Terri mentions to David in her Apt, in ATFWMW that Walter called her.it definitley set up for something between them and its too bad we never heard from them again on the show. Guess that is why so many have them together in F/F!

The wedding was: a & b) a fake / a fraud: Maddie's marriage itself was not serious stuff, by all means! So she got what she deserved! LOL! ;D c) a joke: Dave-like wedding style! LOL! ;D An all-around tease!! ;D BTW...Can you imagine what his and Maddie's marriage would have looked like, had those darn writers had the decency to show us? Whohoo! The Circus is in town!! LOL!

rose, you are so right when you say David and Bert are shocked to see Walter. I just love love love the part when David walks out of his office to meet Walter and then looks to his left -followed by Walter and Agnes looking over in the same direction. It cracks me up every time, as does Agnes' giggle when Walter assumes that Bert is David. I really truly laugh out loud every time I watch it. Your comment about Maddie not saying anything back to Walter when he tells her that David has sparkle. I think she even changes the subject and talks about the chair! Doesn't she say something like, "This is really nice" as she rocks to and fro?

LOL So he got what he wanted out of the deal Rose good calls ;D~totally agree here... the wedding being ff&j. Plus, if I may add, the ole boy David needed to keep busy~he was frigidity, very anxious . Maddie is all consuming for him but he couldn't let her know it...planning this farce is a way he gets to focus on her without having to be in her presence. Ultimately, it's still about her, so much that he got Richie, Viola and the whole male office staff planning with him and for him. The Druken night and hang over day... ~Great job just being Dave and he knew Maddie expected him to do that! The "Boss Lady" called it. Which, by the way, is given as a precursor when Mad and Wally have their first argument. Terri as companion or pawn, do I think more companion than the latter... ~ Naaaa. Terri might have been invited for 10% support and 90% to pizz Maddie off , he smirks too hard when she walks into view and that lean in ...priceless.... ;)it really set it off because the look on Terri's face is like....."What?"... lol ahhh, memories
