Hi everyone, What a sad day today, first we lost FFM, may she RIP. Then came the shocking sad news about MJ, may he RIP. As a big ML and Motown fan, I've been listening to the Motown family including Shelly Burger, Berry Gordy and Smokey with their memories and tributes on TV. Anyone have a comment or a favourite Motown song in ML. Peace out. Luv, Phyll.

Favorite use of a Motown song in Moonlighting...several... but the one that came to mind right now when I read this question is I Was Made To Love Her by Stevie Wonder as used in The Bride of Tupperman. David is out carousing the bars looking for a candidate for Tupperman's request and their is a montage of him soliciting women for it and it gets funnier and funnier.

If I had to pick one, I would say "Papa Was A Rolling Stone". I just love how it serves as the background for David's sleuthing as he trails Mr. Hayes in EDFIAV. Love love David bee-bopping behind the wheel as he speeds down the road.

For me. it's "This Old Heart of Mine" in "Knowing Her" and "When a Man Loves a Woman" in "I AM Curious...". David singing "R-E-S-P-E-C-T" into a pretzel rod in "The Next Murder You Hear" and "Run Around Sue" in "Blonde on Blonde" are great picks too! As you can see I have a hard time picking just one!! The music choices for ML overall was perfect and seemed to always be chosen for a reason.

Bees,
You made some great choices, however...none of them were Motown tunes. When a Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sledge was on the Atlantic label. Aretha Franklin (R-E-S-P-E-C-T) recorde on Columbia. And Dion (with or without the Belmonts) was not on Motown. He was early on on a small label, not well known that I forget the name of. Later I think he recorded on Columbia's label.
Motown seemed to be the standard for ML, (how can we forget Maddie lip synching and dancing to Psychedelic Shack by the Temptations) but many of the songs used were from the same time period...just different genres/styles.

Hi there, Cindy, Bees was right about "This old Heart of Mine" that was performed by the Isley Brothers in 1966 for Motown. For me, I love David's performance of "Money(that's what I want)" by Barrett Strong in 1959 to Maddie in "My fair David" when they both think that Clark is still alive. Just for your information, this is when the producer of Motown back in the 80's saw Bruce's performance in this episode that he proposed him to record an album for Motown. Anne
