Let's rate these episodes to determine the fan favorites.
Everybody rate The Pilot, and we shall see in a few weeks or so which episodes are the favorites.

This episode I've seen the most and know it by heart. Good episode. 9.

Yes, it's great. I really enjoyed the commentary to this one. It was very funny. My favourite part is the bit with Miss Dipesto and the bucket.

Look how many dead people there are in this episode. First the runner at the beginning, then the Mohawk guy, the pawn shop owner, the really mean bad guy dead in the back seat of the BMW, and the old German diamond thief who falls to his death at the end. This episode has the most dead bodies in all of Moonlighting.

It was so much fun—had a lot of charm. It got me hooked on the series. But when I watched the DVD (where the picture is so crystal clear), I could see some nit-picky problems. For instance, at the end when Maddie climbs up to the big clock on the side of the building—there is no way that she would have done that. There was no "ledge" for her to schootch over on, to get to the actual clock. There was just tile. No way would an inexperienced woman (in heels) do that. There was nothing there to support her. This problem wasn't so visible when it was shown on TV (or maybe I never noticed it because I didn't have a very big TV), but it was really obvious on the DVD. And the whole thing with David (and Maddie) and the ladder hanging over the side of the building didn't ring true—the ladder bends, does not break? I doubt it. Also, you could easily recognize that they were using stunt doubles in some of the shots. That's the problem with DVD—everything is so clear. I get really nit-picky sometimes, but don't think I'm criticizing the episode on a serious level, because I'm certainly not. The chemistry, humor and charm make it a favorite, one that I look forward to seeing again.

Pilot tv episodes are in general pretty lousy but there are always a few exceptions. I really like the Moonlighting pilot, even if the overall 'feel' of the show wasn't quite the same. The pilot was like watching a movie I thought and very interesting. I liked the whole setup to the series that this rich spoiled model/businesswoman loses all her money and thus ends up working with David at her detective agency. Mohawk dude kinda creeped me out a little too Bruce and Cybill had INSTANT chemistry! Wow. I had the biggest crush on Bruce back then, btw. What a cutie.

The Mohawk guy is creepy. Isn't he in Grease?

Yeah I think you are right Gem and that must be where I have seen him before - there are quite a few faces that I think "I know you...who are you?" I always find it amusing that he is trying to hide from the creepy slow-talking bloke (sorry can't remember names) and he is probably the most conspicuous guy you could ever see! A hat might have helped...

Yeah, and that Alistair bloke, with the slow talking sausage sizzling guy, is from the X-Files.
Does anyone else wonder why Maddie has so much foliage in her hallway? She doesn't have it later on in episodes. In the last scene, where they are having tea and David is trying to convince her to go into the agesncy with him, it looks like they are sat in the garden!

Maybe they couldn't afford to recreate all that flora (and fauna!?) when they created the set for the TV series.. They certainly didn't recreate the hallway to such a huge scale as the original house. I never realised how much everything in the house echoes in the Pilot until I got the DVDs!

Yeah, maybe Maddie had to sell some of her plants when she was in dire straits and she realised they didn't actually have any clients. She could probably make some money with that bundle.

Yeah Gem, that could be it ;D
btw, that slow talking guy is kinda boring, don't you think?
Also, I thought with the fighting scene between Allister and David needed some music, it was all very quiet and music could have helped making it more exciting.
I do love the Pilot a lot. The scene I probably like the most is the one with the dead guy in the back seat and the scene that follows after that (dancing, romancing, you'll get my point).
It's also one of the best pilots I've ever seen. You'll get to know the characters very well already and the story is also easy to understand.

You're welcome Babyhayes! He was the alien bounty hunter with green blood! I noticed that there were a lot of people in ML who have been in x-files episodes. Like Rodney from Next Stop Murder was in the episode Humbug, one of my favourites.
I know I said there were quite a few and I'm certain there are, but none are coming to me at the moment.
