2. Regarding Maddie's revelation about her college stalker: a) How does this story impact the way David sees her? b) This may be a pretty big leap, but what the heck: how do you think this experience has affected Maddie in the long term?
I don't think #2 is that big of a leap at all. In about 2 years she'll be saying: "I don't just give myself to anybody...."
While David never took her no away, Maddie always has to feel like she can call the shots when she wants to call the shots. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, really....just a little bit controlling on her part at times!
That being said, I can see how her college experience would make her raise a red flag in certain situations.

Oh, and by the way, after this incident I matriculated at a school for wayward boys and never pulled another panty raid. Oh, that's too bad, gray...those Animal House guys could've used your smarts! ;D

1. How does this episode develop Agnes' position at Blue Moon?
Agnes knows David better than Maddie does at this point. We are to assume that she has worked with him now for a few years?
I think she knew he had a thing...a big thing, for Maddie the day she got a bucket and a basketball dumped on her sweet little head!

1. How does this episode develop Agnes' position at Blue Moon?
She definitely sees the pull between M/D even if they are always fighting she just knows. She is definitely going to do all she can to help these 2 out so: 1: that Blue Moon stays open and 2: these 2 people realize they have feelings for each other. She takes care of them both and even though she called Maddie MOM to David in the end scene she is kinda like the Mother Hen to them. Trying to guide them through the whole series.

This is a big revealation to David, up to this point we didnt here much about Maddies past except her modeling alittle bit. This case does something to Maddie that makes her open herself up to David like this. He is shocked by this and knows its serious so he doesnt say much. He sees her as a person with feelings, hes called her cold but he knows she can hurt too. SHe is in control of her life and does deal with men a certain way,its her way or no way, maybe this started it all. We see she was the one calling the shots on her and David down the road so yeah this may have shaped her maybe.

Sorry that I am late for the party, but I got tied up. Before getting into the questions, I wanted to say that I really like this episode. It is classic Moonlighting in so many ways. The dialogue is snappy and the tension is great. We have the paper in the lobby (gotta love the "antidote for stress"), the scene on the roof (the way David looks at Maddie), the opening fight scene, David taking bets, the after dinner conversation, the car drive and talk and finally, the make-up scene in David's office...the little peck on the cheek and David's closing smile. This really is great stuff.

2. Following is part of the heated discussion: Maddie:"Without you, I wouldn’t be involved in this stupid case! Without you—" David:“What?” Maddie: “Never mind.” David: “No, I want to hear it!” Maddie: “No, you don’t.” What do you think MAddie would have said if David pushed her more? I think that a lot of Maddie's tirade is a result of David's comments just before this. He tells her that she needs him, that he is her life line. This really sets her off...mainly because it is true. She can rant on and on about how they shouldn't have taken this case and how she shouldn't have kept the agency open, but deep down she knows that her life would be empty without David, without Blue Moon. It infuriates her that David knows it. She probably would have gone on to say that he is immature, irresponsible, doesn't care about the business - that without him, she might be more successful, that he is more of a liability than an asset. Maddie's initial instinct was to believe Barbara Wiley, but David convinced her that Barbara was a bad guy. She deferred to David's detective skills which turned out to be wrong. She was irritated on many levels.

Dont' you just love the end scene, I love how already Miss Dipesto is calling Maddie :"MOM" to David, she already feels the connection between them. Like shes the child whos afraid her parents are splitting up. Then when Maddie comes and of all things apologizes, and then kisses him on the cheek. You can see in Davids' face as she leaves he is so hooked big time on her. rose, I really love the "Mom" thing too. Agnes already sees them as a couple. And the way David just nods his head - perfect.

1. How does this episode develop Agnes' position at Blue Moon?
The final scene shows Agnes right smack in the middle of our dynamic duo. She has a front seat to the drama between them. Remember how Agnes tells Maddie in "Eek!" how much she loved it when they fought and then made up? This is one of those times. Agnes is developing into the heart and soul of Blue Moon, the glue that holds it all together.

This conversation reveals a lot to David (and us) about Maddie's view on relationships.

1. In a heated moment at Blue Moon Maddie says: "How can you be so smart about me and so stupid about everything else?” What does she mean? From the get-go, Maddie has questioned Dave's intelligence and capabilities as an investigator. In this episode, every time they make headway in the case, she adjusts her attitude and acknowledges what he brings to the agency. Every time things take a turn for the worse, Maddie's doubts come creeping back. Maddie knows she relies heavily on Dave, and when his actions demonstrate to her that she shouldn't, she becomes frustrated and lashes out. It also catches her off guard that Dave has already got her number and knows what's going on in that blonde brain of hers. It probably would've gone something like, "I would be so much happier, my life would be so much easier, and I wouldn't be responsible to you, Blue Moon, or anybody else. I'd be free." When things are tough all over at Blue Moon, David unfortunately serves as a stand-in for Sawyer having hijacked Maddie's glorious old life.

3. Taking into consideration that this is early in D/M’s relationship, what is most revealed in this episode as to the growth of Maddie and David’s character? I just loved that street scene gray mentioned. There's a sense of ease, balanced with the flirtation, that captures just why these two are so great together! It's exactly that sense of ease that makes it difficult to watch episodes such as "A Trip to the Moon," which is severely lacking in that area. As far as character development, I think both are beginning to realize that they need to stop using each other's Achilles' heels (hers: being bamboozled and having to give up a life of luxury; his: Maddie's lack of faith in him, some self-doubt) as weapons. Maddie starts to understand that her opinion of David matters a great deal to him. She is learning to swallow her pride, acknowledge wrongdoing, and apologize. Dave is learning that it's time to stop tripping over his ego, stop throwing it up in her face how much she needs him. They both know it; it's time to put that to bed (so to speak ). But I love at the end how he almost swallows his pride enough to go to her, knowing Maddie really is the one who owes an apology. The fact that she comes to Dave first tells him how she operates: just give her time, space, and she'll come around eventually.

Bees, thanks for getting everything started! If it's OK, I thought I'd throw in a few more questions: 2. Regarding Maddie's revelation about her college stalker: a) How does this story impact the way David sees her? b) This may be a pretty big leap, but what the heck: how do you think this experience has affected Maddie in the long term? I'll answer both in one shot: Maddie says three things that reveal her feelings about men's attention and affection. First, "It's scary being the object of so much desire." Second, "He didn't even KNOW me, but he swore he loved me." Third, "But he took away my 'no.'" It seems that men in Maddie's past have developed affection for her based solely on her looks. She has always wanted to be taken seriously, despite the modeling career. Later in the episode, during the sidewalk scene, she says, "Madolyn Hayes...more than a pretty face...." She doesn't feel comfortable with the kind of attention she has attracted over the years, and from whom she has attracted it. David deduces from the story that Maddie does not want to be controlled or overwhelmed by a relentless pursuit of her affections; she needs the power to choose.

I suppose all of us on the forum (since we are universally good looking, witty and charming) have had at least one similar "Fatal Attraction" type instance of someone who we have absolutely zero interest in thinks that we'd make a wonderful couple. Now take this and multiply it by hundreds or thousands and you could see why Maddie had to develop these "calluses" around her as a matter of self preservation. I just hope I don't scare her....
