Let's discuss The Straight Poop!! Not sure we need a whole lot of questions for a clip episode, but if you've got some, toss 'em in. Perhaps we can even talk about the commentary......

I gotta run out for a bit, but just watched the commentary--what a treat, diane! Sounds like you gals had a GREAT time...and lots of fun background info, too!

While I wasn't really that excited about watching this again, I'm now glad I did. I found the clips they used meant more from David and Maddie's perspective. What really struck me a little more though is the "Money Talks..." scene. The other sweet clips coming from David's point of view are wonderful, but that scene where David leans in for a kiss and instead places one on her hand......sigh! Talk about lightning in bottles....whew! The commentary is the best! Diane, can you think of anything that was left off of the main site that you can share? I wished you ladies had done more of them! What about the timeline between when the DVDs came out and when you planned the commentary? Did you do the interviews with GGC and others before or after? How did that play out with Virtual Moonlighting?

I'm missin' a new Gray avatar right....about.....now..... Question: Is the kiss at the end suppose to be Maddie and David making up or Glenn's way of showing Bruce and Cybill weren't misbehaving like the tabloids were suggesting?

I never really loved this episode either. But I did know that Glenn usually cited it when asked for his favorites, and when we were asked to do the commentary, I spent a lot of time with it, and started to regard it almost as a "ML fix". In less than one hour, you get some of the best scenes of the preceding episodes as well as a cute plot device that perfectly holds them together. It addresses lots of the rumors that were swirling at that point, and I think, is just plain fun! And of course, doing the commentary added so many memories to the episode as well.
In answer to Bees' questions: Cindy and I did our interview of Glenn Caron on 9/10/02. That date sticks in my head because we were in the city for the first anniversary of 9/11, and things were appropriately subdued and respectful that day. We were overjoyed that we had had the opportunity to spend the time with Glenn, but we were also reminded to keep it all in perspective.
The commentary for The Straight Poop was done in mid September of 2005. Again I remember because it was several days after my birthday, and I considered the trip a special present. We all posted our accounts of the day on the site. I can still remember being very excited and nervous, and then being amazed that the time doing the actual commentary just flew. Gotta admit.......we started out a little nervous and had to stop after a moment. But take two was the charm. It was absolutely fascinating to see how the whole process works....I am so glad I had the experience.
One thing I can remember....we were asked to do the commentary back during the days of BW.com., and I was very excited to tell Bruce that we had been asked. I bided my time, and one day, in the chat room, "ghosted him" about it. He teased me, saying that he hadn't even been asked yet, and wanted to know all about it. Over the next few months, he asked me several times about the progress, although he NEVER revealed the secret that he, Glenn, and Cybill were finally doing the long awaited get together. But he was great about our participation, and excited for us. He really is a super man!
Virtual Moonlighting overlapped both......we started the first year as a round robin sort of system, then as people left and pursued other interests, the staff solidified into a small but mighty band. I know some of my virtual episodes have been written on planes between here and California, but I am not sure which I was working on during the commentary.
So many Moonlighting adventures that I wouldn't trade for the world.

Diane ,you are so lucky to have such strong ties to this episode and sharing the info of that experience with all of us here too is so appreciated! I think it makes us all like this episode alittle more than we might have because we know you helped do the commentary. True its not a fave episode of mine but its' clever anyway to see clips of past seasons up to that point and yes they were trying to address rumours of a not happy set but wanted to show things were good and having D/M kiss and makeup was to show us that all was fine I love love the kiss at the end i must say! SIGH!

Good question.....I guess I have always assumed that it was David and Maddie , but really, the whole episode revolves around the tabloid perceptions of Bruce and Cybill....so, I guess my answer is, I'm really not sure. Let's add a second question.......if it is supposed to be David and Maddie, are they supposed to remember the kiss? And does it affect their relationship going forward?

I think maybe we all probably think its a kiss between D/M and than also B/C . But like other times they kissed ,its kinda not mentioned again ,sorta swept under the rug. But we the viewers never forget like all the others D/M try to forget ,we can't JMO

I think it was a little of both and then they rubbed that kiss in with an Agnes and Bert ep and Sam standing in Maddie's doorway!! Diane, thanks for sharing your thoughts and memories. Can I just say that if I were ever on my computer and Bruce popped in I would be all thumbs on the keys! Forget about meeting him in person!! I'd be a total mess! I wish I had caught on to the BW.com days. I found an archive one time from there and read about a story he told about being chased by wasps when he was young. Totally cracked me up. The same thing happened to me when I was that same age, so it was just really funny! Anyway, as you can see I'm starstruck....so I'll shut up now!! ...saw him on GMA yesterday....he looks terrific and just very happy!!

Another Question:
In the "Brother, Can You..." clip, why was the music changed from "If Only You Knew" to "You Make Me Feel"?

Another Question: In the "Brother, Can You..." clip, why was the music changed from "If Only You Knew" to "You Make Me Feel"? I seem to remember from the ladies' commentary that in the actual episode, it was supposed to be from David's POV, making "If Only You Knew," most appropriate; they used the clip to show Maddie's perspective, so Aretha fit the bill. Diane, am I right on this one?

Just for fun, do any of you have a favorite blooper reel segment? Mine is from "Knowing Her," when Cybill turns around too soon and Bruce shakes his head at her. She turns back around and breaks into laughter, with Bruce saying his line and teasing, "Yo, you--knucklehead--turn around." On the next take, Cybill flubs her lines and walks out of frame, with Bruce and his bemused smirk following closely behind. Cracks me up time and time again.

It helps take away a memory I have of his appearance on a late-night talk show years ago. He was asked about Cybill and replied, "Yup...she's still talkin' about Moonlighting." The late-night host was taken aback and said, "Ouch!" or something to that effect. It's good to know Bruce holds the show and its fans in high regard. Thanks for sharing!

Well......they say time heals all wounds......and I think the maturity that comes with it helps as well. I have never heard Bruce speak badly of the work done in Moonlighting....in my opinion, memories of things better forgotten seem to fade with time. He always credits ML and Glenn with giving him his big break.
Regarding the change in song....not sure I have ever known that explanation.....but I am old and forget things too. It sounds like a reasonable idea......that they filmed both versions and used one in the episode, and one in the clip show. Or even more logical.....they needed it to fill a certain space in the clip show and changed the song.

If it's David and Maddie kissing then they weren't suppose to remember it!! It's David and Maddie we're talking about here! LOL! They deny kissing and so it never happened! They don't ever remember kissing each other until the end of Season 3!! However, it affected the viewers and fans, I think. We remembered every little look, touch and smooch!
