2. Although Maddie's mother doesn't say much other than to defend Maddie's behavior, Alex and Virginia seem to view Maddie's troubles in two different ways. What do you feel are these two different points of view?
They both love Maddie, and they both want her to be happy. There's just a fundamental difference in how they're going to go about helping her find that happiness.
Virginia is just waiting for Maddie to come to her. She's no dummy--she knows something is up, but she's not going to try to corner her about it...our Maddie never reacts well to pressure like that!
Alex is, I think, such a typical dad: something is wrong, and he wants to fix it, darnit--right now!
Their reactions when they find out about the pregnancy are pretty representative: Virginia is there for Maddie, lets her talk about it, but doesn't ask too many questions, while Alex charges right out to L.A. to confront David.

1: Do you have a fave scene of this episode?Well, I really impressed by the scene at the airport, where David runs to the phone, thinking that it is Maddie who is calling... The scene is so dramatic! Poor David, when he realizes that it is Agnes, and not Maddie on the phone... Thousand emotions can be read on his face... His pain is obvious.. I agree goldilocks. Bruce really does some of his best work in Season 4, but in that little scene he manages to be miserable, cynical, hopeful, elated and heartbroken within 20-30 seconds. How does he do that??!!

4. The letter: Makes me tear up a little, every time. Agree with bees and goldilocks that it was a great way to capture the feeling of them being together again. However, I have to think that Maddie would have called him afterward--or better yet, written a letter of her own...her heart's not frozen, after all, just confused. See, I always thought it was a shame how Season 4 brought out the "Maddie Bashers". Her heart really is golden and very capable of love and loving. It really is a shame though that they chose to write her character in a much different light later on in the season. I could have dealt with her being gone for a little while, but to write Maddie as cold and unfeeling is....unforgivable....yeah, I said it and I'll say it again...unforgivable.

In this ep, you can see it in her interactions with Alex, and on her face when she reads the letter...maybe this episode needs a little epilogue treatment, no?

3. Trivia: Terry O' Quinn (Bryant Wilbourne) can be seen in what popular show today?I'm thinking he plays Locke on Lost, yes? As for the Amanda Plummer/BW film...not sure. I can only remember seeing Ms. Plummer in So I Married an Axe Murderer with Mike Myers. Yes, jen, that would be John Locke/The Smoke Monster Amanda and Bruce were in Pulp Fiction (not) together

Regarding favorite lines, I forgot the foreshadowing comment Alex makes to Maddie: "You've got something kicking around inside of you..."
If he (and she) only knew! ;D

Hi all. Yes, I am still alive. The last few weeks have been crazy! I have been redecorating my house, then I was out of town, and now I have family visiting. I have missed you all and the discussions. Maybe I'll have some time tomorrow to pop on and catch up with all that has been going on.

I'd like to have the answer, but I can only guess First of all, Bruce is a great and a very talented actor, who is able to play his character perfectly, and he did and does it) But second of all, I just wanna hope, that he was not only following the script and the instructions, but may be, just may be...he was showing his own emotions and feelings) May be he did miss Cybill, and that's why his acting was so drammatic at the moment?)) I don't know, but I'd like it ot be so)

1: Do you have a fave scene of this episode?
I think I would have to say the "beepers" scene. I just love the interaction between David and Bert and Bert's concern over David's personal life. Both Bruce and Curtis play it just perfectly.

2: Do you any Fave lines in this episode?
UGH! Here I am at work during lunch and I left my little cheat sheet at home! I made note of some of my faves as I was watching. I believe that most of them were from the "beeper" scene, such as "I'm sure the odd socks in the dryer will jar his memory". I also giggle when David calls Bert "99" and "Voltaire". Really clever. Oh, yes, can't forget "This is a bunch of crap. I'm miserable and I want you to come home". David really puts himself out there with these words.

3: Do you think Dave and Bert have got the chemistry thing going on?
Absolutely. As I mentioned in my other post, the beeper scene is classic. The next scene with David, Bert and Bryan Wilbourne (is that his name?) is great - especially the little bit outside the office door. And can't forget the airport scene - great stuff.

Great answer, jen. I so agree. While Virginia doesn't really defend Maddie, she does seem to be trying to buy her some time (with Alex) to explain what is going on. She is acting as if there is nothing to be concerned about just to cool Alex down. Don't you just love these guys? They are so perfect as Maddie's parents!
