I so agree with the age thing and Hollywood. But may I remind you all of a few little mystery shows...Murder She Wrote, Columbo...although, I wouldnt much care to see Angela Lansbury rolling around on the floor knocking over fireplace tools to Be My Baby, but if it was a 60 year old Maddie and Dave I think I could be talked into tuning in. As for what Agnes and Bert would be up to...hmmm....I would love to see Agnes in the most current tennies. I could see her walking down the hall with some glittered out shoes. Using the computer to get some really great rhymes for answering her bluetooth. And Bert...well, I cant really picture him changing much. I see him still dorky but as lovable as ever. Up on all the latest computer jargon...trying to talk Maddie and David into getting everyone IPads.

It's funny...when I first rediscovered ML a few years ago, I would've loved the idea of a reunion movie...but now, maybe not so much. I feel like the chances are it wouldn't do justice to these characters I love so much--not because of Bruce and Cybill, who are still so magnetic, but because Hollywood has a way of turning pure gold back into mere dross.
That said...I loved some of the ideas I saw here, and would enjoy a hearty helping of "reunion" fanfiction--where I can play out the scenes in my head! ;D

If Bruce can destroy a helicopter with a car in Die Hard 4, he can still do chase scenes with Maddie in Moonlighting! I think the movie should take place about 20 years after the end of Blue Moon. Opening shows Maddie looking sad. She is sitting at her desk at the new modernized Blue Moon. There are pictures of two good looking children on the walls and on her desk. She is reading something that remains out of sight. There is a knock at the door and Maddie tells whoever it is to come in...she looks expectant and hopeful until she sees it is an older but still quirky Agnes. Agnes tells her she has to leave soon if she wants to make her appointment..she looks concerned..she asks if she is ok and Maddie nods as she rises dropping the paper she was perusing..it is a divorce petition..Addison vs Addison....scene switches to David waiting outside a courthouse looking at his watch. He looks annoyed and a bit angry. We see him notice Maddie walking up the court steps and he quickly ducks into the building to avoid her....ok by this time we can surmise that they have been married, probably for awhile since she has pics on her desk of 2 teenagers and that they are in the process of getting a divorce...the show can continue with explaining how they wound up together, what went wrong and of course how they reconcile...that is the best part...

As long as they reconcile, I'm ok with the plot. I would also like to see them remembering their good times while they're on court.

The whole episode won't be in court...somehow (details not ironed out yet) they become entangled in a case together....we will see the good times and the past through flashbacks....details on why they are thinking of divorcing not ironed out either....happy to have people add to this story! What would bring them to the brink of divorce? How did they manage to restart the business and wind up together? Case???

Of course anything would be okay of they reconcile in the end... nevertheless I just can't bring myself to believe that Maddie and David, had they gotten and stayed together after LE (which they did, as we all know ) would come to the edge of a divorce. Not after all they had gone through. But I admit, maybe that's just wishful thinking... Although I know, of course, that's what people do, that's what happens in real life - they fall in love, get together, fight for their love - some more, some less - overcome obstacles, raise children - and then drift apart and split up after 20 years. I know that. It's just that Maddie & David and their love are so special to me that I just can't see it for them. They have never fit in the categories of usual people - whatever that is. JMO of course.

"They have never fit into the category of usual people" - Sandra.
Absolutely Sandra! These guys are above ordinary life - I can't even imagine them going out to but a pint of milk or the paper. They seem to glide above the every day- they're too beautiful haha.
That's why, although I'd love to join the trend of imagining them all happily married and kidded up, I can't see them choosing a happy, conventional fulfilling route through life. Divorce would also not suit them. If they eventually sorted their crap out and married it would be forever. I refer back to an earlier post on this thread: therefore, to me, re-animating their tv characters on the steps of the church 22 years later just seems to be more in keeping with the feel of the show. They should split the show into David v Maddie's idea of the perfect reunion movie (which would encompass most of your ideas guys) - how it would have gone if they hadn't been cancelled- with flash backs from the original show. That could be a lot of fun - almost an 'It's a Wonderful Job' feel to it. I think I said this already - but I can imagine them actually agreeing with each other at the end of the show that they're finally ready to tie the knot - 22 years on. A love that never fades...it could end with them saying their I do's with the old cast all around them..all saying 'At last!' 'They saw the light!' and maybe even Glenn saying 'I never gave up on you two - you're a love story' - or funny if he added 'I'm sorry I married you off to Walter...' haha. Like I said the best love stories have a little tragedy, a little patience and feelings that endure through the ages.
That's JMHO XXXX

They would not divorce in the reunion movie but I think it would be more true to the original show to see them working their way to each other then be all lovey dovey and 100% happily married...not is not realistic especially for David and Maddie's relationship. I can see them as having to work on their relationship to keep it happy and alive...like most people.

Although I'd love to experience the lovey dovey part we have seen so many times, I think we will need maye two or three movies to see it. Anyway, I just love the whole idea! I wish we could see it soon.

There will be room for all that loved dovey parts in flashbacks and of course a hot steamy reconciliation scene lol

Hello!
I'm new to this board and according to the LAST post on this thread (8/30/11), I may not get a straight answer...or and answer for that matter so here it goes:
I've been watching the show on YouTube for the first time since I could not watch it back in the 80s (I was 7 when the first episode came out). Anyways, I like it and was sad to read the "Behind-the-scenes" drama which caused the show to end after 5 seasons.
Reading only a few comments on this thread and reading the online interviews regarding Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd agreeing to do a Moonlighting Movie...renuion...show...etc.
What are the chances? I would assume age would be a factor. However, I did notice a Moonlighting petition going on so...maybe?
Please forgive me for asking (or repeating) that question but it's my first time on this forum. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm not sure it's that likely anymore - the topic has been bandied around a few times but as time has marched on, I find myself in agreement with a lot of the folks on this thread: if Hollywood got hold of it now, they'd probably squeeze all the charm out of it. Let's live through VM and Fanfic ;D Nice to meet you... I've been away from the boards for too long!

Well, their 30th anniversary is approaching and maybe the topic would (or could be) solving "The Anslemo Case". However, you're right that as time continues to go on...nobody is interested and no one seems to be making a push for it. Nice to meet you too!

Blunt but yes, I guess that's true... I would give anything to see a Reunion but what would end up happening would be that Hollywood would get hold of it and cast younger actors etc. and that would be sacrilege You never know, one day huh? You got to have your dreams - they can't take that away from us. x

I read that not only is there a "supposed" script being written BUT Cybill and Bruce only want Glenn to run it, which would eliminate the possiblity of younger actors. Again, this seems lost but just wanted to share that.
