That's a lovely picture! I've not seen that one before.
Maddie's character is great, but she needs to let her hair down a bit more!
Love Gem

Maddie is hard working and wants to do the right thing. She is dependable and determined. When she loosens up, she is so pleasant and sweet. She is just so beautiful and cultured too.

Maddie is fantastic, and I usually find myself agreeing/identifying with her, but she is a victim of her own distrust. She distrusts others, particularly David, but mostly she distrusts herself. Her self-styled role as "a thinker" is probably more indicative of her internal conflict, which we see quite clearly in "To Heiress Human", among other episodes. Her lack of confidence in herself and in David is a big part of what makes their relationship so rocky.
In any event, Maddie Hayes is my all time favorite female character, and Cybill did a wonderful job in giving her life.

I think there is a lot to relate to with the character of Maddie Hayes. It's as though she lives within a shell to protect herself and yet underneath the shell there is a great deal of emotion, with her head telling her one thing and her heart another, she doesn't know what to follow. And of course David provides all this conflict for her, as he is able to crack through this shell but Maddie is probably not sure whether she wants him to or not. If that makes ANY sense at all?!

Yep, you do make sense babyhayes! I like the idea that Maddie feels threatened within her little shell, it makes a lot of sense. She feels threatened that David can get to her so easily and make her have "fun" rather than just "fine"....

"...just when you think here is somebody and maybe, just maybe I can show him a little piece of my heart...he knocks you down and steps on your aorta!"
I absolutely love this quote from Maddie at the end of "Money Talks...Maddie Walks", it shows us what she is starting to feel for David but simultaneously what she hates about having feelings for David.

Something that caught my attention on Maddy Hayes (and the way Cybill Shepherd played) was the charming and determined personality which, I for once think, that is not so common to see from women on TV/movies. The image industry has a tendency to emphasize, even if not on purpose, us women as pretty faces and great bodies. Sure, I work my body and like to take care of myself ;D but I need to feel that the inside is given credit also.

Maddie is fantastic! She's amazing and unforeseen I love when she's delicate and fond and I love when she's angry. It's so funny Maddie is my favorite female character. I love Jacy Farrow too but more Maddie

I just had a thought! (How is that possible?)
In Money talks, Charles calls her Mad. Could it be that she is called Maddie, just so she´d have a reason to be mad a great deal of the time? Noone can blame her, it´s just her in her nature.

It's just short for Madeline. Nobody else's name fits the pattern...

Still... makes you wonder if Glenn didn't consider that when chosing the name. Hmmm...

Still... makes you wonder if Glenn didn't consider that when chosing the name. Hmmm... ...And I was thinking that Maddie was the short name of Madeline. Even, the subtitles on my DVD'S are different, insted of Madeline(subtitles from the channel, that ML passes,on Portugal) or Madolyn(from the website) appears Madelyn.
So,what's the truth?!
