Maddie says, "My goodness, I've never seen you like this before."
Me neither… I was upset when I re-watched the DVD years ago. And it did again this time because of the romantic scene between David and Gillian in the moonlight, UGH. You should share it with Maddie first! However more and more I’ve come to like him since I watched this episode. How deep he falls in love, it must be not easy for him though.
The sudden appearance of Gillian threatens the relationship between David and Maddie. They have several intense arguments about Gillian but I think actually David and Maddie are crazy about each other so they fight like this. They can’t just admit it and I still wonder what would have happened if he had left the rose at the end. But I have to admit that the writing is so clever!
I enjoyed the first banter and last chase scenes very much. She looks gorgeous in mud and the last scene, especially Maddie’s attitude, dismisses the heaviness. David is safe! ;D
Thanks for starting it Marple!! Just watching this one, I have a few comments and thoughts:
*When the weather is so awful at the beginning and its heavy rains, it looks really very sunny.... *The wicker shoes David wears do make me giggle ;D *I still think "a gnat with a lobotomy could fool you" is one of the best lines. In TV. Ever! *Is it me or is David immensely stupid to trust Gillian so quickly? Is it just a case of him thinking with his underwear?! Even Maddie has a bad feeling about the woman and Gillian comes across as emotionally odd from the beginning... *Its so cute to see Maddie so jealous and forlorn... She DOES care! *Ha! Little green eyed snake! *I so love 'this old heart of mine'. Wondrous song! *A brilliant and mad chase scene Why oh why didn't David leave the rose!

This is interesting, Mulberry! Did you see how tempting her eyes and lips are from the beginning? I don’t know about the actress but I think she did a great job in the episode. He has had the issues about Gillian since she left him and when he knows she is in danger, he is deceived by her. He is a caring man and she is a shrewd schemer. IMHO

I agree that Maddie care about David always on his side in this episode. Maddie is also jealous, yeah, cute! She denies it but her expression speaks volume. ;D

I love this episode for many reasons, but mainly because it reveals a little bit of David's psyche (and heart) when it comes to relationships. I don't think he was thinking with his underwear. I think he was desperately trying to figure out what he did wrong. He fell hard for her and despite his anger he found his feelings for Gillian had been buried.
I love the overlapping dialog in the office. Maddie really tried to express her concerns for him despite fear of David's resentment and her reluctance to appear jealous.
I'm late again. I am watching the episodes but never seem to make here on time to comment. David does fall hard, fast, and blindly doesn't he? I love the conversation in David's office where they're talking over each other, then pretend that nothing was said. It's nice to see Maddie a little jealous and see that she really does care. Mul the gnat with the lobotomy line is so great! Also love the scene in the beginning with Maddie so out of sorts. ;D Maddie---I had to stand out there all morning and not one man stopped to help me. David ---What did you expect looking like that?
