The latest craze on TV seems to be "re-boots" of old series. The re-boot of Magnum PI, made me think about what I'd think of a Moonlighting re-boot.
Some re-boots feature the old cast coming back in a current day version of the show, while others, like the new Magnum PI, feature entirely new actors in a fully updated scenario.
I couldn't see the original cast coming back under any scenario for Moonlighting (for a number of obvious reasons). What about new actors and a slightly changed premise? I personally don't think I would like it at all, regardless of how well it were done (and I doubt it would be done well or even could be in today's culture), but its interesting to speculate on the possibilities.
Thoughts? Opinions?

As you say, I can't imagine anyone else playing any of the main roles as well as the original actors. The style, the comedy, the sheer genius of how they played those characters.
After it ended, for a few years I wished that Bruce and Cybill would come back and do a one off film showing David and Maddie actually together and still running their agency. Perhaps too much time has gone by for that to happen now even if the actors were likely to do it...

The idea of a Moonlighting reboot was actually brought up during a lunch discussion at work lol. It seemed that people who did not see the original show during the 80s (mainly due to their age)but had heard of it or even caught a couple of episodes would consider watching a reboot with a different cast. I personally would not watch it. For me, nobody can replace Bruce and Cybill and their amazing chemistry. Even though so much time has passed, after seeing the Bruce Willis roast, I would still watch a reunion episode/movie for sure. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll get one, but at least we can rewatch the original as many times as we want😁
