So I ended up watching Blind Date last night, mostly because my daughter was watching it with me, and I couldn't watch anything rated R. There are some funny parts, but overall I'd give it a C+.
A few things that I thought were interesting were that BW's character in the film is Walter. John Larroquette played a guy named David. There was another character named Agnes. Tracks of My Tears was done about a year after this film. I wonder if Maddie married a "Walter" because that was David's name in Blind Date. Oh, and also the guy who played Lou Lasalle was in Blind Date.

Sorry you didn't like it very much. As an adult I think about how much Walter was to blame for everything that happened so it is kind of hard to sympathize with him. But I would probably give it a B. Did your daughter like it?
I have noticed some name similarities over the years. Of course the names in Blind Date didn't go unnoticed. But I didn't notice the guy that played Lou Lasalle was in it. Then there is the fact that Cybill's ex-husbands' names are David and Bruce. And while watching Cybill I noticed her character dated a man named David who had a son named David Jr, and then she also dated a man named Bruce. And of course Charlie Rocket's character's last name was Addison, which I'm sure was on purpose. Was there a Walter character on the Cybill show? I can't remember. There are lots of other men's names in the world, so it can't be a coincidence that these characters have the same names. And isn't Bruce's real first name Walter?

Talking about names. I discovered during the lockdown the TV series Fringe. I was shocked that one of the three main characters is called Walter Bishop!!!

I guess it is a coincidence. And talking about coincidences I have to tell you another one. Apart from David Addison, the other male character I love since my teenage years is Pacey Witter from Dawson's Creek. And the last 2 episodes of the series he is involved with a married woman played by...Virginia Madsen!!! But at least in that series we got the happy ending we deserved...unlike Moonlighting...

Marlena, I like campy cult classic Death Becomes Her. And coincidentally, BW’s character’s wife is an abusive aging blonde actress (Meryl Streep) named Madeline. 😬 Ha!
ETA: Also, Michelle Johnson who was in Plastic Fantastic Lovers is in this movie.

These posts were very illuminating. I don’t believe in coincidences.
Talking about the show Cybil, I’ve been able to catch some episodes on IMBD TV and find them lackluster. You don’t realize how phenomenal Moonlighting was until you see these other sitcoms. I fell asleep through two of them and love CS and CB. The show wasn’t very good.

I just recently watched all the episodes of her show for the first time. I actually like it. Sometimes it was too silly but I also found some episodes to be quite funny. I like how she didn't seem to mind talking about any topic. And in the show she is basically the same age I am now, so it was interesting to see how she acted at my age.

I also liked the show, Cybill. I agree it was silly at times, but I feel like it was supposed to be silly. While I do think CS is a great actress, I think her character in this show - Cybill Sheridan - was probably a lot like playing herself.

Not just because BW was in it, but because it was a really entertaining movie overall. There's one point in the film when Goldie Hawn's character calls Meryl Streep's character, "Maddie". Makes me feel bad for Cybill, having to watch Bruce get all these big parts in hit films, and then feeling like he's getting his digs in at her with something as simple as a character's name. I mean, we don't know for sure that he had anything to do with that, but if not, that's quite a coincidence.

For some reason I haven't seen this movie yet, but that does sound mean if they name the terrible character Maddie. But I guess its better than calling her Cybill. Maybe it is just a comment on the character of Maddie and not Cybill herself. Or it is just a coincidence.
I just saw a clip of the Oscars from 1972 with Cybill presenting an award. Wow, she was so young! She seemed a little nervous too maybe? Here is the link in case anyone else hasn't seen it yet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=piIxtXcOwyM

The kids are going to Grandma's house this weekend, so definitely planning to watch some Bruce Willis movies!

All these name coincidences surprised me. Can people really be that petty? I guess they can. I joined in on the watching BW movies parade Two nights ago, I saw The Jackal. The movie itself didn't get too many great reviews, but I thought it was entertaining enough with a young BW, Richard Gere and Sidney Poitier.

Regarding the Bruce Willis movie parade:
I just watched him in Striking Distance. It was okay. I don't like smoking, but BW does look hot when he's smoking. I also appreciated seeing him in his river patrol shorts. I didn't think he had chemistry with Sarah Jessica Parker, but it was nice to see him do a love scene. I definitely liked The Last Boy Scout and Death Becomes Her much more than this one.

I asked this exact same question over at Boink's site, so you can answer wherever you are most active or currently logged in Would you consider David and Maddie's relationship to be toxic and why or why not?
