Hi Everyone!
I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Lucy. I am 30 years old, and I live in a small village, in the forest in South England. I discovered Moonlighting back in 2004. I was 13 years old, and quite a lonely child. We had this new tv channel come to freeview that year called ABC1. It had loads of American shows such as; Home Improvement, 8 Simple Rules, Once and Again, Genral Hospital, Hope and Faith, Ellen... AND MOONLIGHTING!I saw the advert, I watched one episode, and I was hooked. I remember the episodes used to air at 3pm on weekdays, so I would run from the bus which got to the end of my road at 3:35pm so I could catch the last 10 mins of Moonlighting. At the weekends, they would play a few repeats from the week, so every weekend, and whenever I could, I would record the episodes on video tapes. I did not see Moonlighting in order at this time. I had no idea how may seasons or episodes there were. I didnt get the internet until 2008, so I had no way of getting information. So all I had was the random episodes, my tiny tv and video combo, and I just recorded when I could and Moonlighting became something that I got great comfort from. I didnt have an easy childhood. And so Id become obsessed with these characters as if they were my friends. The years went by, the tv channel shut down, so no more episodes and so as I got older, I moved my obsession onto other things. But I never forgot!I then was able to purchase the DVDs back around 2014. I was so happy to have them! But life got in the way, and so I wasnt able to absorb myself into the Moonlighting world like before. But here we are now, it is 2021. And life has been pretty hard for us all the last year or more! And last week, I was drawn back to my DVDs. I started watching again, and I have been taken back to that time in 2004. I LOVE tHESE CHARACTERS!My obsession has been re-awoken, and so here I am. I am very late to this message board. I did not know it exsisted. I was looking for fanfiction, as I am a fanficion addict. After I read one, I saw a comment that mentioned the "Moonlighting Boards". So I looked it up and here I am! I am very happy to be here. I have no idea how many members are left, and who is active here. So if you are, please comment on this thread! Id love to speak with you guys. I am also looking for all the active websites for Moonlighting. I have been through some of the threads, and clicked on alot of links, and some are j ust no longer there which makes me sad. So if you know of websites that have the fanfiction, please post the links!
I am very interested in reading all the episodes from the Virtual Moonlighting site that carries season 6 to 10. However, there are missing episodes. Please, if anyone has these saved, Id love to read them! I follow a few Moonlighting accounts on Instagram, and am so pleased there is a new podcast on the show. Moonlighting and its charachters are just so wonderful they deserve to be kept alive. And so thats what I want to do. I want to help keep the show alive anyway I can. So I hope me being here helps to do that. Thank you if you have read this. And I am just hoping I can make friends with the people who are still here. With Love, Lucy.

Hi Lucy! Welcome to the board! It's always a pleasure to come across Moonlighting fans. How exciting and interesting to see how the show attracts fans of all ages, even if the show ended 32 years ago (I'm 38, by the way, so we're close in age... well, pretty close ) You've asked for some links. I've got a few right here. First of all, this board has been neglected by us for awhile now, but that's only because a fellow fan started up another Moonlighting board a few months ago. We're all pretty active over there now. The link is: moonlightingstrangers.com/Also, I write fanfiction for Moonlighting, so if you're ever in the mood to read, here's my site with stories: www.fanfiction.net/u/7251972/Mardre-EbridgeHave fun in the Moonlighting universe!

Hi Lucy, welcome to the board! I have a somewhat similar story. I watched Moonlighting when I was around 11 or 12 when it was first on the air. I was obsessed, but once it ended I moved on with my life. I did buy the DVD's when they came out but didn't watch them right away. Then this year, a few months ago, I found time to finally watch every episode. I was hooked again. Then I found this site and have since found other sites and Facebook pages. It has been fun to rediscover this show and "talk" with other fans. Have you finished watching the whole series? If so, what do you think of the way it ended? I was so disappointed in the ending. I wish they had done it differently. Since you say you like fanfiction (I do too) definitely check out the site that sandra posted. Not only does it have pretty much all of the fanfiction, the person that runs the site actually put the stories in order of how they fit in with the actual episodes of the show. It is a great site. It also has a message board that you can join in on if you want. Another good site is www.moonlighting21.com It isn't currently active but it has some great interviews with the people involved with the show. And if you are on Facebook there are at least 2 pages for Moonlighting fans and a page for the podcast. Anyway, hope you enjoy those sites! And even though this site isn't very active, it is still fun to read what people talked about in the past. The Ramblings thread was the most active for the past year or so. It is a lot to read, but if you have time you should check it out.

Hi, Lucy! Welcome! As Sandra said, most folks have gone over to moonlightingstrangers the last few months. I fell in love with ML during the original run on ABC in the '80s. I was in college then and couldn't wait for Tuesdays at 9. The show just wasn't like anything I'd ever seen on TV before. And as folks who are regulars here can attest, I kind of fell, hard, for Maddie Hayes/Cybill Shepherd. My brother and I loved the show and loved talking about it. I was as confused as everyone else at how the show went downhill in S4 and S5, but watched through Lunar Eclipse. I taped as many episodes as possible when it was on Bravo here in the States, but got sidetracked, as one does, by life–a wife, kids, work, etc. Then, once the pandemic began, I was going through YouTube one night and found all the old episodes, in order (thanks to Shawn Skillern and all the others who posted). I spent the next month and a half binging. Found this site and saw folks had started posting again, and it was wonderful to be welcomed into the ML community. My brother died in 2019, suddenly, and it was a very difficult year. This site, and talking about a show we all loved so much, really helped me cope and get through some tough days and nights.
It's a very cool community.

And thank you so much for the links! Its so sad to see so many links not available anymore so I am gladly going to visit the new boards! And how funny! I have been reading your fanfictions, my user name on Fanfiction.net is Arrows and Crowns. I have commented on some of your stories. I love them! It was in the comments on one of your stories that made me look for the boards in the first place. I am so happy people are still writing for this how. Big Hugs, Lucy. <3

And how lucky you got to watch it when it was airing. I bet it was such a fantastic time to experience. I so wish I was born earlier! Im so glad you have had time to rediscover your love of the show. Its worth all the time in the world, there is really nothing quite like Moonlighting. I have watched the whole series yes. I remember seeing the last episode for the first time, and I cried. XD I just cant believe the injustice they did to Maddie and David. They could have ended it with them making some type of commitment to each other but nope. It still makes me sad to this day. Its why fanfiction is so important! Its the best thing we can get as fans to a better ending. And of course more stories. I know at the time Moonlighting had many obsitacles with the writers strike, Cybills pregnancy etc. But I just wish it had managed to get back on track, and done a few more seasons. Thank you so much for the link, I will be visiting all these sites. I have joined the FB groups and the instagram pages too. I am so thankful to all those still getting involved with this show after all these years. Truly amazing! And it makes me think... Do you think we would be able to do a Blu Ray campaign just like the dvd one? Because those would be epic to have. thank you again!

Im sure that is something that shook you and your whole family, its very sad that it happened. Thank you for sharing your Moonlighting story! I just love to hear about how people came across it and when. I bet the 80s was such a great decade and to have experienced the Moonlighting phenomenon in real time, gosh I wish I could have seen it too! I am fully with you there, from the first moment I saw Cybill, I was blown away. She was stunning, and still is! I just love who she is. Same with Bruce, they had such a great connection. Unlike anything else, its such a shame they didnt make a movie after the show ended back in the 90s. I dont think its something that will happen now unfortunately. I am really happy to know you rediscovered your love for the show recently and have come back into the community. I am over the moon to find all you guys on here. And the new podcast is great, I look forward to the future episodes. Big Hugs!

Nice to meet you too Lucy! It was an exciting time to watch the show when it first aired. But unfortunately I didn't have any friends that liked it, and Bruce, as much as I did. They would watch some episodes once in awhile, but then they would get bored with me talking about it all the time. And they thought Bruce was way too old for me (of course now he's married to someone younger than me! ). It was nice to go to stores and see their pictures on some magazines. I still have some of the ones I bought back then. Of course the trade off is that I am so much older than you now. But oh well! I really think they could have ended it so much better. Even if nothing else changed, that last episode could have brought them back together. They could have used the Annie story as a catalyst to them realizing how much they really loved each other and wanted to be together. It is so sad because I love the show but there were so many things I think they did wrong. I don't think we got one episode with them just being together and happy. It gets depressing when I think about it too much. You are right, fan fiction definitely helps. As far as Blu Ray, do you know about the book that came out recently by Scott Ryan? He did an interview to promote it and Glenn Caron was also interviewed with him. He asked Glenn about getting it on Blu Ray and Glenn said he would look into it. I really hope he does and he is successful. I would have loved them to do a reunion show, but since that doesn't look like it will happen I think if they get the show on Blu Ray they could have Cybill and Bruce do some sort of intro as David and Maddie (like they used to do on some episodes) and explain what they've been doing since the show ended. They could give us the happy ending that most of us want and it wouldn't take much effort, just them sitting in an office or house and talking. I'm not getting my hopes up though. There is a great interview with Cybill from just a few years ago and she says she is definitely willing to do any kind of reunion, it's just Bruce that needs convincing. I wish he would just acknowledge that the show was good and got him his start in acting and appreciate that. He seems so egotistical, like he didn't need Moonlighting or its fans to make him a star.

Hello Lucy.
Welcome to the site. I've only been here a few months myself, although I haven't been around much lately because it seems to have gone a bit quiet.
I'm from England too, although I'm from oop t'North myself. It's great that you discovered this wonderful show and I'm so glad you got the DVD's when you did, because I don't think they're available anymore. I certainly wouldn't be without mine. I'm old enough to have been a fan since it began showing here in the spring of '86 and it's always great to see younger people coming across the absolute goldmine of pleasure that is Moonlighting. I'll look out for your posts and I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do.

Hello, all. I'm also new here. My name is Chance Cash Johnny Brick Lonesome Shane McCoy, but you can call me...Alejandro.
I'm 23 years old and from the US. I had heard of "Moonlighting" years ago but thought it was just a run-of-the-mill 80s crime drama and didn't give it much thought. Then in December 2020 I decided to sit down and watch it, starting with "The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice". Why that episode? Well, I prefer not to start shows from their pilot episodes as they don't usually accurately represent the show, and this particular episode had been lauded as one of the best.
After seeing that episode, I was hooked and (illegally) downloaded the first season from the internet. After seeing those episodes I downloaded the second season, then the third season. I pretty much stopped watching the show after starting season four as it was just too hard to watch. I was never a big fan of Agnes and Burt. They are fine in small doses, but when they started to become the main characters I just lost interest.
Fastforward to November 2021. I decided to pick up where I left off but pretty much skip all the episodes not centered around David and Maddie. I thought the whole marriage plotline at the end of season four was a bit silly and out of character for Maddie, but at least it only lasted a few episodes.
Season five was pretty good, actually. Not as good as the first three seasons, but enjoyable. I liked how David and Maddie's relationship seemed to change slightly, mostly notably in how Maddie starts to actually laugh at David's remarks more than chastise him for them! I don't know if that's because of how she's grown and learned to accept David throughout the seasons or if it's just the result of the last season having different writers due to the 1989 writers strike.
I also didn't really like the ending. Of course, it was done in true "Moonlighting" fashion and was very fitting for the show. It would have been so easy to have a typcial end-of-series happy ending with the main couple getting married or declairing their love for each other and living happily ever after like so many other shows have ended before and since. But as usual, "Moonlighting" had to be different, and I respect them for that.
I just discovered this forum a couple days ago as I decided to rewatch the "Sam Saga" from season three. It's been fun seeing you guys pick apart each episode on here, albeit about 15 years ago.
