So this murder remained unsolved right? No one every solved what happened? If the man was murdered or if he fell somehow accidentally?
Who do you think did it? Was the wife and supposed boyfriend two good suspects? Or might there be someone else responsible?

I guess we can assume the husband fell and the police investigating it thought he had been hit over the head before the fall. The only facts in common we see in the dream are that the man was hit over the head with the clarinet and the body placed on the catwalk and then knocked down when the curtain was raised. I therefore assumed that since these details were the same in each dream, that those particulars was what was reported as having happened even though no one knows for sure who hit the man on the head.
But this is just my speculation. It seems the difference in Maddie and David's viewpoint is related to the character of the two main suspects and their motivations.

But at the beginning of the episode, weren't they told that both Rita and Zak went to the chair, both claiming that the other killed him? But in both of their dreams, you only see Rita being arrested and Zak going to the chair, not both of them.
Plus, in both dreams, Zak is the one who actually hits him, even in Rita's, even though she put him up to it.
I think the dreams are used to reflect what Maddie and David believed happened, and really have no connection to the real case. It was all speculation on both their parts, and due to their falling out earlier on both situations are a bit exaggerated. But the dreams are used to show that it could have gone either way, but in the end we're still no more enlightened about whodunnit than we were when we first heard the story at the start of the episode. Though, I am inclined to believe that as they both went to the chair claiming the other killed him, that it was not an accident and either one, or both of them were involved.
