I think that this is a great great episode! I would give it a 9. In my opinion this is a seminal episode.
Firstly we have the infamous limbo scene which is often referred back to.
Secondly we get Miss Dipesto standing up for something - "You de-Daved him!" which is great for some character development.
Thirdly and perhaps most importantly, we get to see that no matter how much she might resist, Maddie has let David get under her skin. She semi-acknowledges to herself that even though he is not the sort of guy she would normally go for, that his manner and behaviour are something that she finds appealing and reassuring. I mean reassuring in that she knows, despite appearances to the contrary, David is someone on whom she can rely.
Apart from that, this is just one funny episode. Who can resist that 'shake'?

This is the kind of episode I would place in a time capsule just to make future generations jealous. *L* It has all of the elements that make this series great and I just love it, no matter how many times I watch it.
My Fair David is quintessential Moonlighting. For me, it is an absolute 10.

Another excellent episode. It features it all: fun, the limbo dancing, mad-Maddie and the "you de-Daved him" Agnes. I couldn't agree more with what funky said: even Maddie does not accept it, she has really let David get under her skin; that's why she "accepts the dog's limitations".
"I ain't licking you when your father is driving around" ;D
10.

Really good episode for me. I like the overall premise of Maddie trying to change David, the subplot and the script. A few things keep it from being a 10 for me.
First is Maddie setting up the challenge for Dave, then telling him she misses the Old Dave, only to resume the bet when it is convenient for her. Aggrivating.
Second is what happened to the son? I mean, he either WAS in the van and blown to bits o'guy or he wasn't. Why would Mrs. Greydon go through all this work to conceive the second kindapping and exploding van and NOT put him in it?
Agree with Frontier though, the licking comment is one of the all time classic lines.

The subplot with Barbara Bain notwithstanding, this is a terrific episode. The 10-minute dialogue between D/M setting up the bet ALONE warrants a 10. I wonder how long that took to shoot, considering Jay Daniel described the following stage direction taking 1.5 hours: "Maddie exits elevator, walks down corridor, enters Blue Moon, enters her office, puts down briefcase." Can it be? Anyway, I digress...that dialogue is ML writing at its pinnacle. What happened to Bruce Franklin Singer? The scene was played perfectly; Cybill and Bruce both looked amazing. Plus, Cybill was using her deep husky voice that was so appealing. Despite the confusing subplot, I enjoyed Barbara Bain's portrayal of Emily Greydon...the Grand Dame. Love when D/M walk in to meet her; Maddie extends her hand, Emily ignores it.

I love this episode. I remember watching it in high school when I was a teenager and I watched again today and I'm in my 40s. Dave was my hero then, and he's still my hero now !

A solid 9 from me.
I agree with everyone, this is classic ML, and I LMAO every time. Both of them are so brilliant, and the message (Maddie understands she has to accept David as he is, and plus, she doesn't want him any other way!) is great.
