...that this episode has a trailer/advert thing at the beginning. Has that always been there?! And is this the only episode with that kind of thing? If so, why this episode in particular? Oh so many questions, can't believe I didn't notice before, I really need to keep re-watching and re-re-watching!

Yeah I know! It's not on my copy that I recorded on abc and it wasn't on the video that I bought either. I've only seen it on the dvd and I didn't notice it til a couple of weeks ago either. It's fun though - it shows all the best bits from the episode. And as far as I know, it's the only one with a trailer, on the dvd at least.

Most likely this was done as filler for their timeslot.

There was at least one other episode with an introduction, though I'm guessing it was done to keep up with the storyline and/or fill in after a delay in the original air date plans. It was in Season Three (and I seem to remember it happened at least a few other times that year). "I Am Curious" had an introduction recapping the episodes in the arc and showing the fans wondering what was going on. Just the looks of the people on the street...and the way the announcer cut it short, with the sound of ripping a record off the turntable, and muttering, "Oh, hell, you can read the card..." Let me tell you I burst out laughing when they did that. They knew how to write 'em!

Let me tell you I burst out laughing when they did that. They knew how to write 'em! They also did those wonderful intros for the Big Bang Eps because they went for weeks and weeks in between eps. I do love how they did the "man on the street" interviews. So funny. Then the 'critic' re-cap was hilarious too. ;D I'm soooo glad that I still have those on tape, but I can't wait for the dvd release of season 3. Man, I hope they have Cybill and Bruce do a commentary together. Ooo....ooo!! They should get Mark Harmon too. Wouldn' that be hilarious to hear all of them talking at the same time about doing those eps. I could just 'hear' Bruce saying to Mark "Butt out, Buck Rogers!!" as a joke. Ha!! ~blue moon girl "Maddie told Hattie - about a thing she saw. Two bigs horns. And a woolly jaw. Woolly Bully!! Woolly Bully!!" ....this has nothing to do with what I was just talking about, but it's making me chuckle thinking about the scene so it's my tag. ;D

Many episodes had special "teaser" bits made. I cannot say that all these "teasers" aired right before the actual episode (as an "intro"), but they were used as previews or ads for the particular episode. I don't know if all of the Moonlighting episodes had these teasers made, but as I watch a lot of these episodes again on DVD, I see little scenes or hear lines and remember that that little snippet was used in the "teaser" for that episode.
I wish that they'd compile all the teasers made and put them on the DVD. They were usually quite clever.

Just to get a commercial on the air for the next ep. I've just recently re-watched every-single-episode....sheesh!! It's all a blur. And I would say that 90% of the next-episode teasers and commercials used the dailies footage. The film was not corrected in any way. So they're not color corrected, or 'washed' or anything. There's all these scratches and pops. They were definately flying by the seat of their collective pants back then. But given that....I'd have to say that as fast as they put them together, they were very fun to watch - trying to catch all those fast quotes in 10 seconds. I always had to watch them several times just to catch everything. ~blue moon girl
