I give this a 9! It's one of the very best of Moonlighting in every category. Can you believe I'm only just noticing the disappearing/reappearing shaving cream??? LOL I can see how I might have missed it way back when and it's been 20 years since I've seen the ep - but I've watched it several times since buying the DVD and only today am I noticing it. It really did seem like one seamless scene. How did they do that?

LOL, Maddiejr I think I watched the episode several times too before I noticed the shaving cream. I think I was so into the argument I didn't see it, but after that whenever I watch the scene I can't help but notice EVERY time.

I figured since my login name is taken from this episode's title, I oughta be giving my two (or more) cents. The episode has all the best of ML and was one that categorizes the show as a "dramedy." This is the episode where Maddie must imagine her life without David, and it ain't pretty! The scene in her bedroom is the first time we see him TRULY vulnerable. We've seen glimpses of it, but this scene really heightens it. It's nice that despite their disagreements and opposing points of view, David feels he can really depend on Maddie. And vice versa. Just sweet that every time he wants to share something with her or needs someone to talk to, he shows up at her house at any hour, knowing that she'll be there for him. And this definitely qualifies. Right before she goes to answer the door...they're standing across from each other, you can see that pull between them, like he wants her to hold him. You can see that same pull after the kiss, the way D/M are looking at each other as he backs away. They say their final goodbyes and it was almost like you could SEE a line connecting their hearts. My favorite part of the garage scene is when he yanks her behind the pillar, and she says, "David!" She is so relieved to see him. Then he takes her hand and strokes it across his face: "That's me...in the flesh." And they gaze at each other.
Sorry for rambling...I give it a 10

Something I noticed...the tag (?) from the previous ep, EDFIAV, had D/M reading fan letters re: when they were going to kiss. Maddie's response of "Maybe this season...maybe next" suggested that it could be a LONG way off. Nope...a mere one episode later. I don't doubt that Bruce/Cyb had no idea, considering that script pages were sometimes delivered just hours beforehand.

Definitely 10. Great episode, I loved the garage scene, David's heart boxers and "David A. please come home."

I gotta give it a 10, for the fine performances, esp Bruce's, the character development, the emotional substance... blah, blah, blah, sure, and men buy the Playboy to read the interviews. No, just kidding... of course the KISS is THE moment, but all the above mentioned things are also reasons for voting a 10. But I hate the epilogue!

Every scene in this episode is fantastic! Every one. Every single one. Even the ones where Maddie is simply trying to track down David and solve the mystery herself. Seriously go back and watch this one again and tell me there is a single frame of this episode that's not terrific! Watch this one again. Do it!
Seriously though I'm not even going to bother going through all the moments in this episode that make it one of the most masterfully done of the series. Jeff Reno and Ron Osborn's best work on the series (yes better than AS). Willis's best work (at least till Father Knows Last) on the series. The continuity persons worst work on the series (the shaving cream... yeah that person was fired for sure).
Moonlighting took a giant step in further developing the "dramedy" with this episode. Raising the stakes by dangling the prospect of Maddie never seeing David again was a massive turing point in their relationship that put it over the top.
Watch this one again!

Yeah, top 5 episode for sure. I thought I had seen all the good episodes of Season 2. The old man at the beginning began to bore me with his long spiel about how old he is, how long he's lived, what he's seen. Glad I came back to it, because this was definitely one of the peaks of their relationship. Out of all the "serious" episodes, I think this one was done the best, the perfect blend of real life consequences, a mystery, and romance. I don't think there was any 4th wall breaking this time either. I like that, but I'm glad it didn't happen here.
Damn, this was a really great episode. Easily tops Sam and David/Maddie's Turn to Cry/I'm Curious...Maddie, although the music in when they get it on in front of the fire was a nice touch. I just think there's something appropriate in them expressing how they really feel about each other in the middle of a case.
:sigh: This is truly one of the greatest tv shows.

Currently watching season 4 and have been commenting on those. I was too busy watching 1-3 back to back to comment lol. Just great great tv. Gotta come back and comment on this one. Not sure what I rated this before but cannot imagine I gave it less than 10. This is one that stands out in my memory from when it first aired. It is so clear how much David and Maddie care for one another in this one. That garage scene! The whole scene is some of the best in the series as well as the first bedroom scene.. As I'm watching season 4 I can't help but think how David didn't leave without saying goodbye even tho he had good reason to just get outtta dodge. Then he still can't stay away and sneaks into her bedroom once again. Very different from Maddies departure in season 4. Oh well different season different reasons. I love that Maddie never stops working to prove David's innocence so he can come home. Oh how many times I have reimagined that conversation about the garage going differently
