Hi
Welcome. I don't mind answering this...
I am in the WSP (web service provider) industry...so most things relating to the Web, internet, etc are interests of mine.
I also was a English Lit major in college and I love the classics and analytical writing relating to same.
I am currently working with a teacher friend of mine on a project that will combine these two things....we are doing a special project to hopefully stimulate her students to want to read and discuss the classics.
What we are doing is an extensive study of Jane Austen (Pride & Prejudie and Persuasion) and how it relates to Helen Fielding's two Bridget Jones novels and the two Bridget Jones films. If it turns out really well, we plan on posting it online as well for other teachers/students to use.
The intent is to show how one does a comparative study between the classics, contemporary lit and film representations.... plus hopefully to also stimulate young people/students to want to read the classics.
Besides this, I love browsing antique stores/malls and collectibles shops. I really like American Art Pottery.
What about you....what are your interests?

Ok, well I haven't really introduced myself so here goes... I'm from England but now living and working in New Zealand, my main passion is sport ( I coach tennis for a living and am obsessed with Liverpool F.C.) but also love TV (obviously!) film, and also outdoor stuff like lazing around on the beach! Cindy, I like the sound of the study you have planned - does it mean you'll get to watch a lot of Colin Firth?! Hmmm, like that idea! What are the rest of you guys into?

I'm a school teacher, so that takes up a lot of my time. I really like a lot of different kinds of music and I love to go and see live bands and I like to collect records. I love to read and I sometimes do a bit of sewing/dressmaking. I'm also interested in Welsh folklore.

Not too much to say about me. I love music (Gibson U.S.A. owns all!) especially Sting and Metallica(Interesting combo huh?). I love anything Star Trek. I like playing and modding computer games, and finally I like GOOD TV shows, aka, older shows. Today's TV shows are pathetic slop for the most part.
That's about it in terms of anything anyone here would be interested in. ( if anyone is to begin with).

Thought I'd add my interests other than ML:-
Although I work as a systems administrator at a university, my interests are mostly arts based, I love art galleries, museums, watching old movies (Cary Grant, Gene Kelly, Doris Day, John Mills etc etcetc). I also love lots of modern movies and go to the cinema quite regularly. I'm also really obsessed by tracing my family tree and finding out all the detail of how my family lived in the past. I also do my local pubs quiz night each week, where I'm known as "Music girl"!! I also write, paint and draw when I get the time...
I also love music in a huge way, ranging from Elvis, Beatles, Ella Fitzgerald, Swing, The Coral, Robbie Williams, the Eagles, Blues, Jazz, 60s-80s Pop, Motown, Billie Holliday etc etc.

Just noticed your post about the classics, Cindy, it sounds fascinating and I love Colin Firth too!! When I first read Bridget Jones's Diary, I was talking to a friend of mine about how the story mirrors that of Lizzie Bennett and Mr Darcy and she thought I was making it up!!

hi Mul
I love The Eagles too! Did you got to see them when they were touring here a couple of years ago? I got offered a ticket, but they were £40, and I thought that was a bit steep at the time (I was still a student), but I really wish I'd gone now. Do you have Robbie's album Swing When You're Winning? I don't really like him that much, but I was at a friend's BBQ on the weekend and we were listening to that album. I really liked it, I think I'll get it. I also really liked the Cole Porter song he did from the film De-Lovely. Have you seen that?

Hi Gem
I didn't get the chance to see the Eagles when they toured, I saw the price and decided against it!! I blame Terry Wogan for my love of the Eagles, he went thru a phase of playing lots of their music on his show and I got hooked!
I love Robbie's swing album, he's one of the few modern singers who can do any justice to these kind of songs (I wont mention Westlife, otherwise I'll get angry!). Still can't beat the originals though, like Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald etc...
For some reason I missed seeing De-Lovely, I think I'll have to get it out on DVD now!

Mul Hi Mul I'm sure you would like that film a lot, judging by your taste in music. I love Terry Wogan too!! He does play a lot of Eagles. I'm also a really big Fleetwood Mac fan and he plays a lot of them too. Have you been listening to him this week banging on about his knighthood? He's so funny. Love Gem

Other interests I have are cooking and movies. I collect cookbooks, especially old ones from different regions.
I enjoy going to the movies a lot too. I try to go at least twice a month or so. I am going to see the new Batman movie this weekend (I hope).
