I always have loved the series. Sometimes this love has turned into care, sometimes into a nice obsession. But I have always felt something very special for Maddie, David, Agnes, Bert, the Blue Moon Agency, cases, weird situations, laughs, feelings, shouts, wispers... What can I say that you don't know?
From my point of view, first season is very good, the second season amazing, the third one gorgeous, wonderful, the fourth one is 'I want but I can't', and the last one is 'I don't even want'...
Well. If we were asked to have finished the whole series at the end of the third season or in the beginning of the forth... or with 'Lunar eclipse', what would you choose? I think most of us would choose the second chance even if we don't like (or even dislike) some parts, specially the ending). But at least we have more of them, ok, we don't like it, but it's them, and better them than nothing. Always.
Talking from my opinion, one of the magic points of the whole series is that Moonlighting shows with a master hand the relation among two persons that have very strong feelings towards. It's so well shown with their arguements, their smiles, their looking into the other's eyes. Then we have the crescendo and finally we have the big bang.
Then it could have worked but definitelly it didn't. But they tried. And of course they lost most of the chemistry and passion. It had to be this way because it didn't work. But they tried. And it could have worked.
Of course we wish it would have been different. In fact. It SHOULD have been different. But it wasn't. And maybe it's another point to give them and admire the reality of the feelings they showed. It didn't work.
It didn't work. OK, now let's talk about real life. So many times it doesn't work. And talking about 'normal' people whose passion and personalityes don't use to be so extreme like theirs were. So I look at the series as a little reality, a little voyeur piece I can look at and enjoy, suffer.
I still can't imagine them as actors without being attracted in some way. Don't matter Demi Moore, don't matter EVERYTHING else. They couldn't not be in love.
OK I'm missing the main point. Yes, the series had an ending it didn't deserve. But it was the ending of their relation, an incredible magic relation we have the chance to see over and over again. The good moments, the magic moments. We know what will happen but we can't avoid to enjoy the great moments they had.
