I globaly don't like chlothes from '80s, but as someone said, Maddie looks good in it. My favourite clothes: - Symphony in knocked flat (fine evening) - Money talks.. Maddie walks (casino) - dinner with parents, I think in Every daughter's father is a virgin - and in Big Man dress in her dream

Formalwear: The dress from Symphony, hands down. I don't even like "glitzy" stuff, but this dress is just gorgeous to me.
Work attire: The lavender suit from Next Murder and Atlas Belched. Again, I don't even like purple, but these looked really nice on her.
Lingerie: I can't recall which episode(s), though I'm certain they were early on, but the light lavendar short nighty and robe. It's not trashy or risque, but it is pretty. Not like the more functional pj's and dowdy robes she wears later on.
One question, on the commentary on Atomic Shakespeare, they mention that they never wore blue, couldn't wear blue, on the show. Does anyone know why?

honey, if you read the interview with Robert Turturice which is found on this site, you will see why he avoided blue in his color pallette, even though it does show up later on in the series. This is a great read.

Thanks, lin, just read it. What a great interview. See, what do I know, I'm blonde (hence my screen name and fair and I thought I SHOULD wear blues and brighter colors, to liven up my paleness. Interesting!

wow, that's a great and useful article about fashion and colours!i have to admit i'm very very pale ( ) but i never thought not to wear blue clothes,or blue jeans!well...these can be good advice!but for a young person nowadays ,is quite impossible to dress everyday as Maddie did...i mean i cannot wear at school such elegant jackets, skirts and high heels!!!my mates will laugh at me!! ;D

These are my favorites:
- The yellow dress from " Yours, Very Deadly "; - The GORGEOUS gown from " The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice " (David's dream); - The classy gown from " Symphony In Knocked Flat "; - The dress from " The Man Who Cried Wife ", the one Maddie wears when at the office waiting for David (I absolutely love the scene where she goes across the hallway to reach the elevator) .

I see that some more of the 80's fashion seems to be creeping back into society. It seems like stuff comes back in style about 20 years later.
When I was in high school in the mid 70's we had sock hops and the American Graffitti/Happy Days look was in vogue. Some of the 60's hippie clothes came back in vogue for a while in the 80's and now again in the 00's. Thank Heaven DISCO clothes haven't really returned....or have they?
I admit it. I had a Don Johnson type get up in the 80's. White jacket with no buttons, t-shirt, linen pants, no socks. I interchanged it with my Magnum PI Tigers baseball cap, hawaiian shirt and jeans. Unfortunately I did not have either Ferrari to go with the get up.
I always liked the classic Maddie look with the dress, the lighweight jacket and the low shoes, and especially the colors that complimented her blonde locks. If that is the trend coming back, then I say yippee!

I had a few jackets that had the huge shoulder pads and I had the permed hair for a while. Really glad that came and went!

My 12-year-old stick-figured body virtually drowned in the heavily shoulder-padded blazer I wore to my 6th grade graduation. The Maddie-esque perm came a year and a half later.

Oh, wow, a loaded question. I thought Maddie Hayes dressed great. I loved the: White blouse and skirt in 'The Man Who Cried Wife", and "Between A Yuk and A Hard Place", Cybill looks really good in white! I LOVE the dress she wore in "Symphony in Knocked Flat." That was a beautiful dress. I liked the purple dress in "Those Lips, Those Lies." I liked her outfit in "The Bride of Tupperman" and "In God We Strongly Suspect." On the other hand, some of the outfits were just hideous IMO, Blue silk dress in "I See England..." This takes the cake, IMO. Blue/white set in "Eek A Spouse" Ugh. The yellow outfit in "Take My Wife, For Example"
