Think back on the very first time you ever saw this episode? Remember? Were you shocked when David revealed to Maddie that he had been married before? I remember being totally shocked. I think I was more shocked by that than the fact that his ex-wife ended up being a lesbian......

I was more shocked by the fact that he had been married. (Not that the identity of the cheater wasn't a surprise too.) And so young. I would never have thought he could have been that kind of guy. First, to marry at all, and then barely into adulthood, and to make up for his irresponsibility. All these things in contrast to the way he usually acts. It made me think, how much of the party-boy image he liked to project was hot air and bluster? What was he really like?

I was def. shocked, esp. to find out she was a lesbian. That was a little difficult for my young mind to understand as I generally had a pretty sheltered life And what a blow to poor ole Dave's ego I always thought it was so sweet of Maddie to pretend to believe David at the end. This is such a wonderful ep. Love the dancing and some of the best acting in the whole series IMO by Bruce and Cybill in the hotel room.

It was so long ago since I saw it for the first time. I think that I read some spoilers somewhere (either a TV preview or TV Guide description) that talked about the ex-wife. The lesbian thing was a bit of a shock, definitely.
LOVED the Stanley Donen dance sequence. One of my favorite bits of film ever, still, to this day.

In Maddie's room, when David is finally telling Maddie about his marriage, he tells her that they got married because she got pregnant - and then baby didn't make it. Interesting foreshadowing with the telling of this story....when Maddie gets pregnant, David's willing to do anything to be with her, to be a good husband and father, even if it's not his child, and then look what happens.... For the second time, he loses a child. Even if they don't really know it's his - it's just heartbreaking.

The fact that he´d been married sure was shocking. I was glad that he didn´t have a secret kid. I know that she didn´t like they dream-dancing-scene, but I sure did, and I´m greatful it´s there. I like it when they get close even if it´s just a dream.

Yes i`m afraid so , Maddie did the horizontal hoochie coochie with the spaceman !. Well actually his name was Sam ( portrayed by Mark Harmon)and he and Maddie were an item back in college. And then he suddenly shows up at the end of Blonde on Blonde . Sam Crawford only sticks around for three episodes but in that short time he not only hits the sheets with Maddie before David gets his chance but to top it all he has the nerve to ask Maddie to marry him . Which thankfully she says no!. Any way to cut a very long story will upteen plot twists, Maddie sleeps with both Sam AND David in the space of two days so she is unsure who the father was , ( this is where it gets a little crazy!) first the writers have Maddie saying she is not sure who fathered her baby then they have her saying it`s Sams and NOT Davids and then in A Womb With A View , we find out that David actually WAS the father all along. Confusing huhh!!? Iv`e condensed the plot down to get it on one page but that basically sums it up! Hope i`ve answered your question Turbo Grom.

And that Maddie does some things that aren't really in her nature during season 4. Shocking, yes.

Oh you must Even though it sounds pretty grim on paper , Cybill does a fantastic job of trying to keep Maddies true personality shining through and if you dont carry on watching you`ll miss one of ( if not the best ) heart felt speech that David gives, about his feelings towards Maddie. :)Although the way the plot reads it does make Maddie sound like a tramp ( sleeping with two men around the same time ) but if you watch the trilogy episodes in sequence i think it kinda makes sense . What with Sam being an old boyfriend( although the way in which the writers had Maddie jump back in the sack with Sam after so long) did seem a bit too quick for Maddie - the thinker-) but as Bruce said himself " the clock was ticking babe" meaning Cybills pregnancy. And going onto the subject of Maddies hot and steamy tumble with David with the sheets still practically warm from Sam, well i dont know if you have seen `Im Curious... Maddie `yet but the way it all unfolds again is kinda natural and inevitable for our sparing twosome . The whole build up to them giving in to their temptations had been bubbling since Blonde on Blonde . Anyway sorry if i have gone on a bit but i couldn`t bare the thought of you feeling this way about the rest of the seasons , Please keep watching because even with all the c***p that the writers threw in , it was and still is one the best tv shows in the history of television . ;D One more thing though... just don`t bring up the ANNIE!!!!! thing.

I certenly didn't mean sirius when I said that I don't want to see season 4/5. I will watch it but I feel it won't be the same. I know that Cybill's performance was great, but writer (can I say scenarist?) ruined it I think. I'm watching ML for the first time, and it's begining of season 3 (tomorrow will be Atomic Shakespeare). Thank you for describing me the situation. And.. well.. I didn't understand the last sentence.. My English is quite bad. What is "the ANNIE!!!!! thing"? I see you put those angry smileys so I think it's something bad that I said. I'm sorry anyway.

Oh no you haven`t said anything wrong , it`s great chatting with you. And i know you`ll carry on watching it through the good and the bad episodes just like we all did :)because we all had an investment in David and Maddies relationship and soo wanted it to work out for them. The ANNIE thing isn`t a `what` it`s a whom. I really don`t want to put you off any further from watching season 5 but about three or four episodes from the end Maddies married cousin ( Annie)comes to town and well lets just say that David has a complete personality transplant and becomes romanticaly involved with her. . Just about everyone on here can`t bare to mention or even write her name down .We all hated her!! to put it mildly. But as you haven`t seen season 5 yet i thought you ought to know ;D Ps , hope i havn`t given you too much infomation and spoilt it for you . But there is no easy way of breaking it too you gently. I will add though that there are a few little nice surprises thrown in for good measure. Make sure you watch In and Outlaws , i know it`s another Bert and Agnes episode but stick with it and your`ll be VERY pleasantly rewarded even if it is for a too brief moment ;D
