This is a great episode for the great scenes between them which are so hot but i can only give it an 8 because it gets me so mad that Maddie does a complete 360 on her feelings in this one so it upsets me .

I give a 9,cause this episode for me it's intense. I love it so munch. In 2004 I can't catch it,so,now I have it. I never get tired to watch it over and over. As a teenagaer,I think this episode shocked the portuguse fans, cause, they didn't expect an intense relationship with David and Maddie, but, for me,I knew that was going happening something between theme, earlier,or later. ;D

I agree with you, rose35. Maddie's attitude the next morning breaks my heart. After all they've been through, you would think there would be a least a few tender moments between them - a touch, a kiss, something. Even the scenes later in the episode seem more about their physical attraction to each other and not about the love between them. When Maddie asks, "Why does this keep happening?" David's reply is "Because it's terrific!" I would have preferred "Because we're crazy about each other!!"

Has anyone else ever wondered why David says that he went to an all boys school? That directly contradicts Mulberry Street where he says that he and Tess went to grade school and high school together. It bothers me every time.

I remember reading somewhere that Cybill felt that the way she was written, Maddie sometimes came across as being bipolar. When it comes to this episode, I couldn’t agree more. While it is a good episode, I always find myself more annoyed than entertained when I watch it.
I find Maddie’s attitude so… frustrating! After spending the two previous episodes pressuring David to confess his true feelings for her, and then finally hearing him say the words during an intense night of intimacy, Maddie rejects him! The next night, she succombs again and, as soon as it’s done, she rejects him again! This, I don’t understand. Nothing about David has changed. He is the same guy that Maddie begged to tell her how he felt about her, the same guy she was willing to work for when she sold the agency, the same guy she kissed in the garage, the same guy she followed to New York.
Meanwhile, lovestruck David wants nothing more than a little intimate dialogue about how great it was, but Maddie is so into her own feelings of self-worth that she can’t see how badly she’s treating him. She knows, as well as we do, that (to quote David’s ex-wife), bearing his soul is not David’s strong suit. So, the poor guy is really out on a limb here and she can’t give him a few nice words? So annoying.
On the plus side, the scene in David’s office with Maddie reading case facts while David clearly has last night on his mind? I confess that everytime I watch that scene, I just want him to get a little too close to her and make her lose her resolve! *L*
I do like the case and how nicely it ties in with where they are in their relationship, so all things considered, I give To Heiress Human a 9.

We think alike skipsquat, I have always thought the exact same thing, I especailly like the way he licks his lips as he is looking at Maddie ( very sexy) and i have always presumed that when he says to Maddie " thats quite a mouthful you have there!" coupled with that look Maddie gives him ,that it was a sly innuenndo to the previous night`s activities! ( if you catch my drift!! ;D Or maybe my mind is just in the gutter :DHa Ha

If we're in the gutter, lauraa, we were led there. *L*
And, you are so right about his lips and the dialogue. As a matter of fact, his whole body language in that scene is just.... great.
Ahem! But, Maddie's shy downward glances also speak volumes. It's very clear that David is in control at that moment - and very sweet, I suppose, that he doesn't press his advantage while she is clearly so vulnerable.

This is such a cute episode! There are moments when they really seem like a couple, and knowing what happened the episode before this adds to that. ;D And when Maddie goes in to David to compare facts about the case, none of them are thinking about the case. I don't like that Maddie keeps on talking about the pact, but it wouldn't be Maddie if she didn't do something to shield herself. She must have known she couldn't resist him, we could all see it! I give To Heiress Human a 9.

This episode is one of my very favorites. I give it a 10. I think this is episode handles the morning after wonderfully. I completely buy Maddie's need to make the pacts. She's not sold yet on the fact that they are more than an "affair" to David. And she's such a control freak anyway that there is no way she is just going to let herself go with the flow and be happy for now without knowing where it's going. Especially when that means giving the guy who delights in embarassing her power over her heart. And David's in-the-moment bliss is also very telling.
One of my all-time favorite scenes of the series is after their second night together. That she tries to make a second pact while they are still in bed is hysterical and so is David's reaction. And it is classic David that he would get defensive when she tells him they are just an affair and he plays it as if that is true. Maddie so desperately wants him to give her his heart (in words) and he just won't do it. I love it when he tells her that he was just trying to save her from winding up with the spaceman and that women will fall for anything if you say you love them first. Her childish reaction to him to tell him that he is lying and is really head over heals in love with her is very telling.
And I think the careening BMW backwards down the hill while they get it on (after having sworn they won't do it again!) is the best end to a season that they had during the series.
I also think that this episode strilkes the right tone for the post-sex Moonlighting. It's not going to be all champagne and roses and snuggles now that they have done the deed. They are still going to have to drive each other crazy and chase each other in order to admit they are in love. The "chase" is still on!
Oh and the underlying mystery is very well done and a nice reflection of the Maddie/David dynamic too so extra kudos for that.
