This is a song I can totally picture David singing to Maddie. It's a song by Morrissey, called "All you need is me" I can't help but smile and think of David whenever I listen to it (which is quite a lot ;D)
You hiss and groan and you constantly moan But you don't ever go away And that's because All you need is me
You roll your eyes up to the skies Mock horrified But you're still here All you need is me
There's so much destruction All over the world And all you can do is Complain about me
You bang your head against the wall And say you're sick of it all Yet you remain 'Cause all you need is me
And then you offer your one and only joke And you ask me what will I be When I grow up to be a man Me? Nothing!
There's a soft voice singing in your head Who could this be? I do believe it's me
There's a naked man standing, laughing in your dreams You know who it is But you don't like what it means
There's so much destruction All over the world And all you can do is Complain about me
I was a small, fat child in a welfare house There was only one thing I ever dreamed about And fate has just Handed it to me - whoopee
You don't like me, but you love me Either way you're wrong You're gonna miss me when I'm gone You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

Had SIRIUSly Sinatra on tonight and heard Willie Nelson singing "Since I Fell For You". Very different and kind of bluesy with a harmonica going on....

I always associate ML with 'Baby, I Love You' by the Ronettes and 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow' by the Shirelles. I think they could have danced to these 2 during the heartbreak of the last 2 seasons. I also agree with Against All Odds. perfect lyrics to sum up David's feelings.
it took me years to be able to listen to 'I Second That Emotion' again without wanting to puke. But I recently stole it back from When Girls Collide and made it about Maddie and David. It makes much more sense with them.

I think we can all agree "Let's Get It On" is more than appropriate. "Stop Beatin' Round The Bush"!

Every time i hear "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion I have to think of our Maddie and David! It is just so about them... Here are some lyrics:
For all those times you stood by me For all the truth that you made me see For all the joy you brought to my life For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true For all the love I found in you I'll be forever thankful, baby
You're the one who held me up Never let me fall You're the one who saw me through Through it all
You were my strength when I was weak You were my voice when I couldn't speak You were my eyes when I couldn't see You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach You gave me faith 'cause you believed I'm everything I am Because you loved me, ooh, baby
isn't it all about them? (*sigh*)

"What Becomes of the Brokenhearted" by Jimmy Ruffin (Motown!) reminds me of poor David pining away while Madie's off being an idiot in Chicago, especially the scene (I forget which ep), where we see him wearing a tee-shirt, with his head down on his desk.
As I walk this land with broken dreams I have visions of many things Love's happiness is just an illusion Filled with sadness and confusion, What becomes of the broken hearted Who had love that's now departed? I know I've got to find Some kind of peace of mind Maybe. The fruits of love grow all around But for me they come a tumblin' down. Every day heartaches grow a little stronger I can't stand this pain much longer I walk in shadows Searching for light Cold and alone No comfort in sight, Hoping and praying for someone to care Always moving and goin to where What becomes of the broken hearted Who had love that's now departed? I know I've got to find Some kind of peace of mind Maybe. I'm searching though I don't succeed, But someone look, there's a growing need. Oh, he is lost, there's no place for beginning, All that's left is an unhappy ending. Now what's become of the broken-hearted Who had love that's now departed? I know I've got to find Some kind of peace of mind I'll be searching everywhere Just to find someone to care. I'll be looking everyday I know I'm gonna find a way Nothings gonna stop me now I'll find a way somehow I'll be searching everywhere

great thread! I've always got music in my head. I have a great song which always makes me think of Maddie wishing she could have brought herself to the thoughts expressed in those lyrics (it's from "Ally McBeal", sung by the great Vonda Shepard)
For once in my life
For once in my life I have someone who needs me Someone I've needed so long For once unafraid I will go where life leads me And somehow I know I'll be strong For once I can touch what my heart used to dream of Long before I knew Someone warm like you would make my dreams come true
For once in my life I won't let sorrow hurt me Not like it's hurt me before For once I have someone that I know won't desert me I'm not alone any more For once I can say "This is mine, you can't take it" As long as I know I have love I can make it For once in my life I have someone who needs me
And here's another one, it's from "Ally McBeal" too, a duet sung by Vonda Sheperd with the ever-so-adorable Robert Downey, jr. (I gotta admit, he too has a pair of eyes, though black and not green, that get me...)
Chances are
Chances are you'll find me Somewhere on your road tonight Seems I always end up driving by Ever since I've known you It just seems you're on my way All the rules of logic don't apply
I long to see you in the night Be with you 'til morning light
I remember clearly how you looked the night we met I recall your laughter and your smile I remember how you made me Feel so at ease I remember all your grace, your style
And now you're all I long to see You've come to mean so much to me
Chances are I'll see you Somewhere in my dreams tonight You'll be smiling like the night we met Chances are I'll hold you and I'll offer All I have
You're the only one I can't forget Baby you're the best I've ever met
And I'll be dreaming of the future And hoping you'll be by my side And in the morning I'll be longing For the night, for the night
Chances are I'll see you Somewhere in my dreams tonight You'll be smiling like the night we met Chances are I'll hold you and I'll offer All I have
You're the only one I can't forget Baby you're the best I've ever met

ah, and these days I heard a classic after a long time, and it reminded me instantly about one special ep, the ep is "To heiress human", and the song is "Addicted to love", especially the first verse:
Your lights are on, but you're not home Your mind is not your own Your heart sweats, your body shakes Another kiss is all it takes
You can't eat, you can't sleep There's no doubt, you're in deep Your throat is tight, you can't breathe Another kiss is all you need
You like to think you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough You know you gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love...
Reminds me vividly of the car scene right before breaking the pact! ;D

Found another one! Sung by Sting:
She's too good for me
She don't like to hear me sing She don't want no diamond ring She don't want to drive my car She won't let me go that far
She don't like the way I look She don't like the things I cook She don't like the way I play She don't like the things I say
But oh, the games we play... She's too good for me She's too good for me
She don't like the jokes I make She don't like the drugs I take She don't like the friends I got She don't like my friends a lot
She don't like the clothes I wear She don't like the way I stare She don't like the tales I tell She don't like the way I smell
But oh, the games we play... She's too good for me She's too good for me
Would she prefer it if I washed myself more often than I do Would she prefer it if I took her to an opera or two I could distort myself to be the perfect man She might prefer me as I am
She don't want to meet my folks She don't want to hear my jokes She don't want to fix my tie She don't even want to try
She don't like the books I read She don't like the way I feed She don't want to save my life She don't want to be my wife
But oh, the games we play... She's too good for me She's too good for me
Now doesn't that sound to you like a complaint David would have every right to make??

"Broken" by Lifehouse! I listened to it last year, and always thought of it as a Christian song (I still believe it was written as such). But I started hearing it through David's ears (I was in the middle of a Moonlighting funk...pregnant and hormonal and crying all the time...then my DH bought me the first 3 seasons on DVD for Christmas...) Now I always think of D&M when I hear it: The broken clock is a comfort It helps me sleep tonight Maybe it can start tomorrow From stealing all my time And I am here still waiting Though I still have my doubts I am damaged at best Like you've already figured out I'm falling apart I'm barley breathing With a broken heart That's still beating In the pain There is healing In your name I find meaning So I'm holding on I'm holding on I'm holding on I'm barely holding on to you The broken locks were a warning You got inside my head I tried my best to be guarded I'm an open book instead And I still see your reflection Inside of my eyes That are looking for purpose They're still looking for life I'm falling apart I'm barely breathing With a broken heart That's still beating In the pain (In the pain) Is there healing? In your name (In your name) I find meaning [- From: www.elyrics.net/read/l/lifehouse-lyrics/broken-lyrics.html -] So I'm holding on (I'm still holding) I'm holding on (I'm still holding) I'm holding on (I'm still holding) I'm barely holding on to you I'm hanging on another day Just to see what you will throw my way And I'm hanging on to the words you say You said that I will be okay Broken lights on the freeway Left me here alone I may have lost my way now I haven't forgotten my way home I'm falling apart I'm barely breathing With a broken heart That's still beating In the pain (In the pain) There is healing In your name (In your name) I find meaning So I'm holding on (I'm still holding) I'm holding on (I'm still holding) I'm holding on (I'm still holding) I'm barely holding on to you I'm holding on (I'm still holding) I'm holding on (I'm still holding) I'm holding on (I'm still holding) I'm barely holding on to you The "fallin' apart" part just brings me to my knees!
