Just found another gem on my Sheryl Crow cd, this one seems more a David song to me: I Shall Believegreat choice, sandra. This is probably one of my Top 3 (?) favorite Sheryl Crow songs. It's funny, now when I'm in my car, I'm always listening even more carefully than usual for lyrics that remind me of them!

Relating everything we see and hear to ML somehow. Crazy, but wonderful.

Cats and kittens, I found another one, and I can't believe how well it fits! It's an eighties' song, performed by Paula Abdul and a male voice (sung in alternating lines), and the title is - hear, hear:
Opposites attract
Baby seems we never ever agree You like the movies And I like T.V. I take things serious And you take 'em light I go to bed early And I party all night Our friends are sayin' We ain't gonna last Cuz I move slowly And baby I'm fast I like it quiet And I love to shout But when we get together It just all work out
I take-2 steps forward I take-2 steps back We come together Cuz opposites attract And you know-it ain't fiction Just a natural fact We come together Cuz opposites attract
Who'd a thought we could be lovers She makes the bed And he steals the covers She likes it neat And he makes a mess I take it easy Baby I get obsessed She's got the money And he's always broke I don't like cigarettes And I like to smoke Things in common Just ain't a one But when we get together We have nothin' but fun
I take-2 steps forward I take-2 steps back We come together Cuz opposites attract And you know-it ain't fiction Just a natural fact We come together Cuz opposites attract
Baby ain't it somethin' How we lasted this long You and me Provin' everyone wrong Don't think we'll ever Get our differences patched Don't really matter Cuz we're perfectly matched
As you probably can imagine, also in this song the lady's the one who takes things serious, goes to bed early, likes it quiet and neat, has the money and gets obsessed (this cracks me up especially!). A slam-dunk, I'd say!

Here's another gem, courtesy of The Pretenders. Although it's sung by Chrissie Hynde, one would assume it's a woman's POV. I think it's pieces of both D&M. Also notice the 'moon' references DON'T GET ME WRONG IF I'M LOOKING KIND OF DAZZLED I SEE NEON LIGHTS WHENEVER YOU WALK BY
DON'T GET ME WRONG IF YOU SAY "HELLO" AND I TAKE A RIDE UPON A SEA WHERE THE MYSTIC MOON IS PLAYING HAVOC WITH THE TIDE DON'T GET ME WRONG
DON'T GET ME WRONG IF I'M ACTING SO DISTRACTED I'M THINKING ABOUT THE FIREWORKS THAT GO OFF WHEN YOU SMILE
DON'T GET ME WRONG IF I SPLIT LIKE LIGHT REFRACTED I'M ONLY OFF TO WANDER ACROSS A MOONLIT MILE
ONCE IN AWHILE TWO PEOPLE MEET SEEMINGLY FOR NO REASON THEY JUST PASS ON THE STREET SUDDENLY THUNDER, SHOWERS EVERYWHERE WHO CAN EXPLAIN THE THUNDER AND RAIN BUT THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE AIR
DON'T GET ME WRONG IF I COME AND GO LIKE FASHION I MIGHT BE GREAT TOMORROW BUT HOPELESS YESTERDAY
DON'T GET ME WRONG IF I FALL IN THE 'MODE OF PASSION' IT MIGHT BE UNBELIEVABLE BUT LET'S NOT SAY "SO LONG" IT MIGHT JUST BE FANTASTIC DON'T GET ME WRONG

Wow, witness - of course, as a girl from the 80s I know that one, but just now it hit me how good it fits to our couple!

"Be My Baby" came on the radio today...sigh.... The sudden urge to roll around on my den floor and knock around some furniture and a few fireplace pokers came over me...but then I got over it because what fun is that by yourself? ;D

Bees just made me giggle!
Gotta tell you, tonight I put on season 3, disc 5, and just let it roll. Except for an hour break to watch Bones, I have been watching the last 3 eps of that season be done and well done.....over and over again!

It must be "Be My Baby" night for the ML 'essed. I have been humming it all night.
As much as I love reading all the songs that remind people of M&D, to me they still live in the 80s.......and I love the old songs!

And having a little fight doesn't harm either...

As much as I love reading all the songs that remind people of M&D, to me they still live in the 80s.......and I love the old songs! And there's nothing wrong with the eighties!! But there are a lot of songs quoted here that are indeed from the eighties. Seems as if that music fits them well.

The way I see it, just as Maddie and David "lived" in the 80s and continue to live on in our hearts, the music that we grew up with--in my case, 80s--lives on as well. For this thread, however, I'm all over the place decade-wise, as long as the lyrics capture our pair somehow. I'm wondering if my 8 yo niece will remember/love "California Gurls" by Katy Perry in 20-30 years. Doubtful .
