Ya know, it's interesting (and perhaps a bit sad) that the ungodly number of entertainment choices out there have fragmented our society's viewing habits.
When I was growing up a hundred years ago, we got three channels on our TV, one CBS, one ABC and one NBC. The PBS station came in rather fuzzy and we lived so close to the independent channel it's signal blew right over the house. Anyhow, for the most part you had a 33% chance that you were watching the same show as your buddies, and you could discuss them over lunch the next day. That's not the case anymore.
Even in ML's day, the majority of folks watched the big three networks and the others were specialty channels (such as ESPN) or movie sources or rerun factories (WGN, WTBS, etc).
Now, heck, I suppose most of MY viewing is NOT on those networks. I watch the Sunday Fox Cartoons (because they fit my skewed sense of humor). I watch a lot of stuff on the Discovery Networks (Dirty Jobs is one of my favorites), and being a sports nut I am always on ESPN, ESPN2, Versus, you name it.

Look at you, just sneaking in here,my friend! Pardon this commercial interruption to tell you we have missed the hell out of you, and hope you can come "visit" more often! Totally agree with your theory......and will tell you that since I cut off my cable, I am basically back to the big three (actually the big 2 since ABC's reception is awful)plus Fox and The W whatever that network is.....and the absolute dearth of fun and creative TV on the networks will drive anyone to other forms of entertainment......like the internet? I am a Bones fan, really do like Body of Proof, and watch Castle ( to complain about it, I think).....but most of my tv viewing is DVDs....living in my past, I guess!

Yay! Gray is back! We have missed you around here. So quit being a sneaky sneak on the boards....you have a lot of make-up work to catch up on all of your homework mister! I've become a fan of Bones this spring. Really starting to get into the characters. Witness, the finale brought me to tears. I won't say any more because I don't want to spoil it for anyone. Like Castle more at the end of this season than the beginning. And Body of Proof is really good. Dana Delaney is great and I love the character she plays. But right now, my family is subjected to Rangers baseball most every evening....Antlers Up Y'all!!

Hooray for Gray!!!!! ;D ;D Don't be a stranger...please? (Besides, you only need 72 more posts to get your next star!! ) I too have caught Bones fever...I blame diane and bees. The writing really is great, the characters are unique, and the chemistry is the real deal (perhaps not quite as sizzling as our dynamic duo...but pretty close). Other than that, it's a few sitcoms--enjoyed Parks and Recreation this season--and, of course, Giants baseball. Otherwise known as TORTURE.

I appreciate all of the welcome back wishes...and I hope I will not disappoint. Anyway, I have not seen Bones, but I suppose I should pick up on it. With the Stanley Cup Playoffs recently, I have been "Cup Crazy" for the past few weeks. Most shows are on their summer hiatus, but a few of the oddball shows (ie Gene Simmons' Family Jewels, etc) are just getting cranked up for another season. Of course, recently I have become a Blake Lively fan....

Gray, you're not saying you've become a fan of "Gossip Girl" are you? Or is it just that Blake reminds you of another honey blonde noggin you're so incredibly fond of?

Anyone watch the Emmys? This was my favourite moment of the night. It's the pageant skit with all the ladies nominated in the Best Actress in a Comedy category (Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Melissa McCarthy, Laura Linney, Martha Plimpton, and Edie Falco). The skit starts at 0:55sec. "As the nominees for Comedy Lead Actress were announced, nominee Amy Poehler raced to the stage, to the surprise of presenters Sofia Vergara and Rob Lowe, and the delight of the audience (in the theater and at home). She was quickly followed by the other nominees in a marvelous parody of various awards ceremonies - the idea was Poehler’s, which she hatched over dinner with fellow nominee Martha Plimpton last week - and even ended with the winner getting a tiara and bouquet of roses." It was such an awesome moment! They received a standing O, too. I loved it when Kate Winslet stood up for them. Amy Poehler put the whole thing together. Here's a comment she made at the 2009 Emmy roundtable: "I love when people do bits because it’s a reminder just of how it’s a great celebration… I would love to try to organize the ladies in my category to do a bit. I don’t know if they would… One of the best Emmy bits I ever saw was when Tim Conway, Harvey Korman, and Chevy Chase were all in the same category, and they were like, “Tim Conway,” and he just got up. He stood up in his seat and he walked up as if he’d won and then they all walked up when they heard their name and they all stood next to each other. And then Chevy Chase won and they were all like, “Congratulations.” It was just the simplest thing and it was so exhilarating as a kid to watch." Melissa McCarthy won, but I don't think she won for whatever show she was nominated. She won for "Bridesmaids." Nevertheless, congrats! And Tina Fey had a baby last month! She looks beautiful. And I love her and Amy Poehler. They're my two favourite ladies in comedy right now.

Doesn't Glen produce that show? No, Andrew Marlowe is the producer, but is also one of my favorite show right now, and unfortunately it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I know Glen produced Medium but I don't know what he's doing now.

I just finished watching the end of Blind Date on tv and I noticed there was a David, Agnes, and a Walter in the movie. Hmmm, was that done on purpose? Oh, and don't forget to drink Coca-Cola and maybe you'll find yourself on a beach kissing Bruce Willis or Kim Basinger! Whichever takes your cake.
