I love ESC, and I thought it needed its own thread. The "semi finals" are thursday the 18th of May (tomorrow), and the grand finale on saturday the 20th. This year is supposed to be a battle between diva´s from various countries. Swedens contribution is one of them (she actually won ESC, I believe it was in 1983). She herself claims that she will win, I have my doubts. I have also heard some of the songs from other countries, and if you have a song that you think will win, or you´re just ashamed to be from the the same place as the artist, please post your comment. It will make it so much more fun for me to watch it.

Our 1st more older channel in Portugal(run into air since 1957) called RTP (Rádio Televisão Portuguesa(Television and Portuguese Radio)) will have the emission of the Eurovision songs. Who is going to represent Portugal is a girlsband called "Non Stop" Must be good enough to see.

Oh I loved it till about 3 years ago. Countries vote for their neighbours now, not because they sing well, but because they are Neighbours... Where is the time that it was just about music, and not about politics?
It's still nice to watch tho. We have a Dutch band entering and they have somekind of fantasy language. They're called Treble, and they're going to sing a song called Amambanda. It sounds well tho I don't think they're going to win, nor getting many votes just because of the thing I mentioned above. I was just wondering when it was going to be aired. Thank you for opening this thread

You´re absolutely right, sometimes it´s obvious that the only reason some countries get any votes is because they have many neighbours. I remember last year, someone got their only 12 points from a %¤%%/ neighbour. I´m only in it for the performances and songs, it´s always nice when someone great-great wins (last years winner, Elena Paparizou is actually from Göteborg, where I live, and she deserved winning), but the important thing is that it´s entertaining. Fantasy language sounds really interesting, though I don´t mind understanding what they´re singing about.. Let´s make a pact, I vote for you, you vote for me.

ok It's not only fantasy language, they have some english sentences in it. "Don't be afraid, to understand, without a language."

Alright, I´ll keep that in mind tonight. We´ll just watch and try to understand anyway, not being afraid. And I probably won´t vote, I usually don´t. But you never know. No pact. Sweden will keep on throwing points at Norway and Denmark, and the Netherlands to Belgium, hmm, and Germany? Luxemburg? I don´t know, but tonight I will.

Ok, it's almost on tv! This is the first time I see Treble play the song hehe!
Slovenia is pretty good. For songfestival that is. Belgium is good too. Not because they are neighbours.

You've seen it already Steph?! It isn't on over here til tonight. Terry Wogan's commentary is the best thing about Eurovision!!

We have to wait to get a delayed telecast here in Australia. I agree with you Gem - Terry Wogan's commentary is absolutely the best thing about the ESC IMHO!!!

I've seen the half final Gem The final is tonight, I liked the songs that where already in the final. The songs from the half final sucked (well, most of them anyways). The Netherlands isn't in it...again...

I´m so sorry for you, Stephanie and Sakura too, of course. i thought your performers put on a interesting show! To be honest, the best songs really didn´t make it, but I´ve figured out why. The countries that already are in the finals vote for the worst songs so they´ll have a better chance. Hope that´s not why Sweden made it, by the way.. I root for Finland tonight!

LOL! I can't believe they got through. Also the "we are the winners, vote for us" song... I thought Belgium was the best one of the evening. I liked Sweden too btw

No problem for me
Oh by the way...when I was 7 years old,I went to the Portuguese Eurovision in Portugal,at live in Lisbon, with my familiy. My uncle was a singer,so he acted in there. He was one of the men's voices with a woman,Celia Lawson with the song:If You Say GoodBye (Antes Do Adeus). My gosh,I remember those wonderful times. Too bad that I don't have any picture or else
Other thing is:That was the worst performer. It didn't get any points,so,the position was in 24th place,in that time
